ANAHEIM III SUPERCROSS RESULTS: A KTM SWEEP OF A3: DUNGEY COMES FROM THE LCQ TO WIN THE 450 MAIN, WHILE ROCZEN COMES FROM THE FRONT TO GAIN MORE POINTS ON TOMAC

Pssssstt! That is the sound of the air leaking out of Ryan Dungey's air shock, but he perseveres to get the last pick at the gate and still win

Ryan Dungey deserves all the credit for his big win at Anaheim III. In his heat race his exotic WP air shock went flat on the starting line, which gave him last pick at the gate in the Last Chance. He immediately got an okay start, only to get caught up in a big pileup. Once Ryan got going again he barely squeaked into second place to earn the last pick at the gate in the 450 main event. Then, he got another great start, made a quick pass on Mike Alessi for the lead and pulled away for an easy win.

The best racing of the 450 main was between James Stewart and Davi Millsaps. The amazing Millsaps keeps confounding his critics by passing James back after getting bumped to third at mid-moto. Then Justin Barcia passed Stewart to take the last step on the podium. Stewart had his best race of the year and ran as high as second before being pushed back to fourth behind Dungey, Millsaps and Barcia. Stewart is now 51 points behind Millsaps, which is a two-race handicap.

Millsaps maintains the points lead in the 450 title chase.

In a weird happening, Chad Reed had a deja vu experience when he and Justin Brayton went down going into first banked corner. For Reed it was a repeat of last week’s crash, only this time he recovered for a strong, but distant fifth.

In the 250 class, Eli Tomac can easily run with Ken Roczen, but not if Kenny is out front and Eli is stuck in traffic. The best Eli could do was third behind Roczen and Martin Davalos. Third was not good for Tomac as he lost 5 points more to Roczen and is now 20 points behind (with one race to go before the big break for the 250 East. Perhaps Feld should think about combining the 250 East/West into one big 250 Supercross Championship so that all the excitement and drama doesn’t take a 7-week break when its at fever pitch.
