GODSPEED! BUSTER LAWRENCE (1946-2012)

A motorcycle racer in his own right, Buster was the father of Factory Phil and Randy Lawrence

Buster Lawrence.

It is with sadness that we report that Ron Dugan informed us of the untimely passing of Buster Lawrence on December 29, 2012. Buster was a dedicated motocross racer and father of “Factory Phil” Lawrence and mechanic/trainer Randy Lawrence. Buster ran a success concrete business, Buster Lawrence Construction, in Desert Hot Springs, California, and had just sold the company so that he could retire.

Buster wasn’t a mini-dad–he would rather race himself than yell at his kids. He raced for many years before a series of unfortunate incidents forced him to quit racing motorcycle. So, Buster took up offroad truck racing, because he felt it was safer than racing bikes in Baja. Unfortunately, the truck flipped and Buster broke his neck. He had issues with numbness in his arm after that made even trail riding difficult. Then, a month ago, doctors discovered a blot clot in Buster’s liver and he spent ten days in a Palm Springs hospital. Whether the blood clot had anything to do with his death is unknown, but Buster died in his sleep earlier this week.

Our condolences go out to the Lawrence family.
