AUSSIE FORD DALE WILL MISS HALF OF THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONALS

forddalesktm

Ford Dale.

A practice crash will cause KTM rider Ford Dale to miss the start of the Australian Nationals (which begin on March 30). Dale suffered a broken left arm and is likely to miss at least the first four rounds of the series. Dale missed most of last year with a knee injury. KTM says that they will not hire a fill-in rider, but will rely on teammate Kirk Gibbs.

LSU MOTOCROSS TEAM: GIVING IT THE OLD COLLEGE TRY

LSU Motocross, 3.17.14

Most of the old school racers remember the days of High School Motocross in SoCal. Now, Louisiana State University has started a motocross club. Logan Van Way, a petroleum engineering junior at LSU says, “Our dream is to make motocross racing a collegiate sport, and if we’re successful, it’ll be groundbreaking.” The major hurdle is that there are no other collegiate teams in the entire nation to compete against.

The LSU club is trying to help neighboring University of Louisiana at Lafayette form its own team and they have approached track owners in Breaux Bridge, Houma and Lafayette for discounts on the usage of their venues. The LSU club is on track to host the country’s first collegiate event in the fall 2014.

WHO IS ELIMINATED FROM THE AMA SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP?

CVGRANT

Josh Grant can put his Championship hopes on hold for another year.

With the 450 Supercross season winding down there are less points left to earn in the remaining 5 races. In fact, given that a rider can only win a maximum of 25 points per race, a large number of riders have been mathematically eliminated form any chance of winning the crown (due to DNF’s, injuries or bike problems). There are a maximum of 125 points left to win in 2014.

Points leader Ryan Villopoto has 246 points after Toronto and anyone with less than 121 points is out of the hunt. Among those who will have to regroup for the AMA outdoor Nationals are Josh Grant (missed 3 races), Josh Hill (missed 3 races), Mike Alessi (has scored points in all 12 races), Matt Goerke (missed one race), Chad Reed (injured),  Weston Peick (three DNFs), Ivan Tedesco (missed 3 races), Nick Wey (missed 1 race), Jake Weimer (missed 7 races), Kyle Chisholm (missed 6 races) and Jimmy Albertson (missed 2 races).
