SUPERCROSS IS STARTING TO LOOK SAFE! GP RIDERS TODD WATERS, MAX NAGL, MIKE KRAS AND GLENN COLDENHOFF ALL HURT ON THE SAME DAY

TODDWaters_05_GPBulgaria_2014_82A3260_1024_099b0b99ad

Todd Waters (47) was the Cinderfella rider of the Grand Prix series when he was picked out of world motocross obscurity in Australia to ride for the new Husqvarna team. Sadly, his 2014 season will be put on hold while he heals up.

Australian Husky rider Todd Waters broke his leg, collarbone and hip when he crashed into a fallen rider on the blind side of a jump at the Ersel practice track. Max Nagl and Mike Kras were involved in the same crash, although they haven’t confirmed their injuries. Waters, who is currently seventh in the 450 World Championships, posted this, “Sorry to inform you guys about the bad news but today in training I come over a big jump and 4 guys had crashed. I landed on a bike. Broke my leg, collarbone and hip.”

naglmxgp2

Max Nagl (12), Mike Kras and Todd Waters were all injured when they landed on a fallen rider over a blind jump at a practice track. Nagl broke some bones in his wrist.

Max Nagl injured his wrists and although he went to a Dutch hospital by ambulance, he waited to see his personal doctor before making an announcement about his condition. It is indeed a broken hand and scaphoid bone (the scaphoid bone is one of the eight small bones that make up the “carpal bones” of the wrist). Max is out of action. Mike Kras, the current leader in the Dutch National Championships, was the first to hit the downed rider and suffered a punctured lung and cracked vertabrae. He will not need surgery, but will be out of action for a couple weeks.

ColdenhoffSat4

Glenn Coldenhoff will lose his third place in the 250 World Championship standings while healing up from his injuries.

Meanwhile, Glenn Coldenhoff was injured in a crash at Belgium’s Honda Park. He suffered knee and leg damage and will require surgery. Coldenhoff is third in the 250 GP standings behind Tonus and Herlings, but will be out of action for four months at least.

VALENTIN GUILLOD DOES THE WORLD’S WORST SCRUB

BROADSIDE AT YOUTHSTREAM’S STUPID OVER-23 RULE IN THE 250 CLASS! YOU GOTTA READ THIS

TonusSat_MXGP4

Arnaud Tonus (200) is one of seven 250 GP riders who will be forced out of the 250 class in 2015 because they will turn 23 years old. It’s no secret that the 23-year-old rule was just written to try to beef up the shrinking turnout in the 450 class (which last weekend only had 23 riders on the starting line).

To read the European press you would think that Tinker Bell was running the GPs and that all was right with the world, but it’s not. Most the European mags and websites are scared of Giuseppe Luongo, or more than likely paid off to write only flowery prose about how only having a handful of riders in the premier class is a good thing, how racing in a parking lot in Qatar is great for the sport, how paying entry fees that are five times greater than AMA riders pay is good and how not paying a purse to the riders is the way the founding fathers meant it to be. The lone European site that isn’t under Youthstreams thumb is the MX GP Action Group. They are hardline, old-school, Grand Prix loyalists who don’t like what Luongo has done. We agree with them. Here is what they had to say about the rule that throws riders out of the 250 GPs when the turn 23.

REM’S LONG-MOTO GLEN HELEN NATIONAL WARM-UP RACES ON MAY 3-10

REVENGEREM1000

Every year, on the years when Glen Helen and MX Sports are talking to each other, REM holds 30-minute plus two lap motos for the the Pro classes (and, default, the Intermediate classes). They do this to help any rider who plans to race the Glen Helen National get ready for the long AMA Pro motos. Brett Metcalfe has dominated most of the 30-minute motos so far this season, but there are still two left (on May 3 and May 10). If you want to test your bike and body, go to www.remsatmx.com to find out more.
