MXA’S WEEKEND NEW ROUND-UP: THE WEEKLY DOSE OF MEDICINE

WE ARE ALL BEING TESTED…WHICH TEST DO YOU FAIL?

hhh2

The news finally oozes out: James Stewart failed the WADA drug test at the Seattle Supercross. Now the ball is in the court of the FIM, AMA and other race organizations. These sanctioning bodies might have written rules, they might not and they might make it up on the fly. The court of public opinion has proven to be equally questionable over the last few days. Now, we wait to see who passes the true test of justice and humanity.

THE REVOLVING DOOR: GRAND PRIX COMINGS AND GOINGS

gfgNAGLMax.

Max Nagl: Team Honda Max Nagl will race at his home GP this weekend at Teutschenthal. Unfortunately, the Honda GP team lost Nagl’s teammate Evgeny Bobryshev last week to a broken leg.

24MX Honda Racing: With Jens Getteman and Xavier Boog out with injuries, the  24MX Honda team will borrow former MX3 racer Klemen Gercar from the Honda Jtech squad to complete the season.

Xavier Boog: After a crash two weeks ago in France, Xavier Boog was put in back brace and told to take some time off. Surprise! The doctors changed their minds this week and Xavier underwent surgery for a plate on C7 and injection in two other vertebrae.

gfgRATTRAYTyla.

IceOne: Tyla Rattray will be replaced at IceOne Husqvarna by Brit Nathan Watson. IceOne has now lost both of their original riders, Rattray and Todd Waters, to injury.

Jake Nicholls: Jake was thought to have broken his hand at the Italian GP last weekend, but doctors have cleared him to race this weekend in Germany.

GBFPaulin01Gautier.

Gautier Paulin: No word on Gautier Paulin’s timetable to return from his Valkenswaard crash (thumb, collarbone and concussion).

Joel Roelants: Joel Roelants remains in a hospital waiting to find out the outcome of his serious injuries from Maggiora last week. He will not return this season.

Jeffrey Herlings: The GP scene rumor mill seems to think that KTM will moved Jeffrey Herlings to the Husqvarna 450 team in 2015 to avoid any conflicts with the Italian-run Antonio Cairoli KTM team. Still just a wild rumor, but an idea that could have casually been kicked around in a conference room discussion.

GFGstykeitaly2Luke.

Luke Styke: Luke is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He got his shot at the GPs this year, but got hurt early on. And, while he is recovering, he will turn 23, which means that he is not eligible for the 250 GPs next year. That effectively means that his Grand Prix career is over—he will have to go home to Australia or try to find a ride in America (hard to do without any real Supercross experience).

WATCH ARNAUD TONUS RIDE — WHILE HE’S STILL IN EUROPE

THE AUSSIE’S PARK CITY TRIP & A SPANIARD’S REBUTTAL

DAN'S VAN IN PARK CITY ON JUNE 16Aussie Dan Alamangos, MXA test rider and famous photographer, drove up to Park City, Utah, in his van. It seemed like the perfect time to enjoy the sights, sounds and trails of the famous ski resort. But when he got there,  it snowed — on June 17th. Dan quickly sent a photo to Jody to show him what it was like. Snow is a mystery to Aussies. That is the photo of Dan’s van above (note that it is a 2009 REM van).

image001Then, the next day Jody received the above photo from Spanish World Vet racer Kim Sunol purporting to show how Dan got the photo of his snow covered van (and that, in fact, Dan was actually in Palm Springs). It turns out that Jody’s buddy Jimmy Mac was in Park City also this week and he confirmed that it had snowed.

MOTOCROSS ACTION PHOTO OF THE DAY: RECYCLING

hecklel010In the corner of Jody’s office we spotted three classic items sitting on the leather-bound cabinet behind him; (1) A lamp made out of his old 1976 Heckel boot. (2) A Maico mug that he uses as a pen holder and (3) a framed photo of Rick “Super Hunky” Sieman and him on the starting line at Saddleback Park.
