THE TOP 15 HEADING TO LORETTA LYNN’S 21-DAY BREAK IN THE ACTION

_SOU5346_John Basher_ELi Tomac_Washougal_2016Eli Tomac (3) took the win in Washopugal, but didn’t whittle down Ken Roczen’s 55 point lead by a single point.

There will be a three-week break in the AMA Nationals because MX Sports doesn’t have enough manpower to run both the AMA Nationals and Loretta Lynn’s at the same time. This is a chance for riders racing with a nagging injuries to heal up and for returning riders, like Trey Canard, Dean Wilson and James Stewart, to settle in for the final three rounds. Currently there are 150 points left to win (50 points per race). Ken Roczen has a 55-point lead over Eli Tomac, which means that he can throw away one round and still lead Tomac by 5 points. Already mathematically eliminated from the title are every 450 riders save for Eli Tomac. That means that Marvin Musquin, Justin Brayton, Christophe Pourcel Broc Tickle, Cole Seely, Justin Brayton, Justin Bogle, Ryan Dungey, Trey Canard, Andrew Short, Jason Anderson and James Stewart are locked out of the title. Here are the current points standings with three races to go.

CANARD & TICKLE JOIN DUNGEY, ANDERSON, HAHN, SEELY, BAGGET & GRANT ON THE SIDELINES

DSC_3651_Brian-Converse_Trey-Canard_Milville-Spring-Creek_2016Trey Canard will miss Washougal, but could be back at Unadilla—which isn’t until August 13.

TREY CANARD: Trey Canard will miss Washougal with a concussion. It will be the 5th race he has missed this series. Trey said, “I’m extremely disappointed that I won’t be able to race again this weekend. I was practicing at Robbie Reynard’s place on Tuesday and had a pretty big crash that left me with a concussion. I’m grateful there weren’t more severe injuries, but still bummed I won’t be out there. I had a good weekend at Millville and was really hoping to build on that at Washougal. I’m going to do whatever I can to get back out there as soon as possible to finish the season off strong.”

LMP_0019 Broc TickleWith the exception of Ken Roczen’s win streak, Suzuki has had terrible luck with Blake Baggett, James Stewart and Broc Tickle (above) due to injuries.

BROC TICKLE: Although Broc walked away from landing on Weston Peick at Millville last week, it turns out that he suffered a fractured pelvis in the crash and will not only miss Washougal, but will sit out the rest of the 2016 AMA Nationals season. Broc said, “It’s a bummer, but all I can do is keep weight off my pelvis for the next four to six weeks and get better as soon as I can. At this point, I just have to look ahead, work hard over the off season and be ready for Supercross in January. I’m going to try and capitalize on the downtime now to get stuff cleared out for 2017.”

Luckily, you can get all of MXA on your iPhone, iPad, Kindle or Android by going to the Apple Store, Amazon or Google Play. Better yet get the Digital desktop version at https://hi-torque.com/product/motocross-action-digital-edition/ for $9.99 a year.
