YAMAHA’S FUTURISTIC ELECTRIC CONCEPT BIKES: THE PED1, PES1 & EKIDS

YAMAHA PES1 ELECTRIC SPORT BIKE
The “Passion Electric Street Sport” is equipped with a DC brushless electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries. The power unit, dubbed the “Yamaha Smart Power Module” is mounted in a monocoque frame. One innovative feature is a new transmission system that can be switched between manual and automatic modes. It weighs a reported 220 pounds.

YAMAHA PED1 DIRT SPORT
The “Passion Electric Dirt Sport” uses the same “Yamaha Smart Power Module” and auto/manual gearbox as the PES1 sport bike. It is equipped with a swappable battery pack and has a claimed weight of 189 pounds. It is a casual trail bike in the mode of the KTM Freestyle.

YAMAHA EKIDS
This concept model is basically a YZinger-style machine with an electric motor. It uses the modularized brushless DC motor from Yamaha’s electric Vino scooter and has a special electronic controller designed for an easy-to-use feel for kids just learning how to ride. An added plus for parents is that because there is no gasoline or oil, it can be transported in any vehicles and ridden indoors.
