RIDE THE DREAM
Kurt Caselli was a dreamer. He dreamed of becoming an offroad superstar as an adolescent, and never looked back. Kurt’s legacy will live on. The people he touched with his giving attitude and the motivation he instilled in so many will live on forever.I have been lucky enough to share 25 years side by side with Kurt. Getting to know him on a deep personal level. As Kurt touched many lives, Red Tide pictures wanted to be able to touch many more with Kurt legacy through a video called Ride the Dream 66.
Last week was the premier of the video at Red Bull headquarters in Santa Monica. It was a small get together of mainly friends and family. Kurt’s aura was felt all around with the people that knew him best being all in one room. When the curtain rolled up, all the chatter came to a halt as all eyes focused on the screen.
The film captured Kurt’s life through childhood to the legend he had become. Red Tide pictures could not have done a better job bringing Kurt back to life. The video is now available for download on iTunes. A portion of the proceeds go to the Kurt Caselli foundation. Make sure to check it out and take a look at what the Caselli foundation is all about and how you can help. Go to www.kurtcaselli.com to learn about an American Hero.

MY TWO CENTS: RYAN VILLOPOTO GETTING HEAT
If you haven’t already seen the interview between Jeremy McGrath and Ryan Villopoto last Saturday before the 16th round in East Rutherford, New Jersey, now is your chance to do so . There has been a lot of negative talk about this video due to Ryan’s comments that he is not having fun riding anymore and that he is “over it.” It’s easy to be critical of someone else’s life, but never judge someone until you have been in their shoes. I will admit, Ryan doesn’t have a charismatic personality. And getting him to crack a smile is like pulling teeth, but that’s not what he is here to do. His focus is to win races–which he does very well. As a professional racer myself, I know what I had to sacrifice and the amount of work that has to be put in just be competitive. It is a 24 hour job. How you ask? Tyler Bowers (multi time Arenacross Champion and now Chad Reed’s fill in rider for Vegas) said it best in an Instagram post that is posted below.
Everyone reading this loves riding dirt bikes, and so does Ryan. There just comes a time when you do any one thing enough it gets monotonous. Then you have the risk involved. Just one crash can cost you everything. This is stressful! Getting on a dirt bike everyday thinking about when your number is hard work in itself.
Bottom line is, Ryan Villopoto has an awesome job. All of us would like to be making the big bucks and retiring before the age of 30! But what would you be willing to sacrifice? Your family? Friends? Sleep? Delicious food? I could not have any more resect for what Ryan has accomplished. Congrats Ryan on your fourth straight AMA Supercross title. I am rooting for you to get your fifth.
MXA FITNESS TIP: RELIEVE THOSE ACHY MUSCLES
After a grueling workout, there’s a good chance you’re going to be feeling some serious soreness. Relieve post-fitness aches by submerging your lower body in a cold bath. Add ice to get to the right temperature from 45 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Submerge yourself for 10 to 15 minutes. Also hot/cold therapy is very effective. Same cold bath but have a hot shower ready top jump into. Do three minute sessions from jumping from hot to cold and repeat five times. This will aid in flushing the toxins from your body that were produced when exercising. Many top athletes use these techniques to help reduce soreness after training sessions. The ice cold water is tough to get accustomed to, but the results are worth it!
