For Davi Millsaps, it was the fourth Supercross victory of his career.    Photo: Rockstar

With all the talk about the opening rounds of the Supercross season and its possible ramifications?no one ever mentioned Davi Millsaps as a contender.

Guess what? Davi not only won, but he did so with pizzazz (coming back on the last lap after being passed by an equally emotional Trey Canard to pass him back for the victory.

DAVI MILLSAPS INTERVIEW:

Here are some other highlights.

Ryan Villopoto imploded at Anaheim. he fell, he ran off the track, he fell, he did one complete straight in the infield. He finished 16th.

Ryan Dungey never really got going. He followed Millsaps, Canard and Barcia for most of the race, but could never make any moves. Instead, Dungey tipped over and that seemed to be the end of his night, but in typical Dungey fashion he ended up on the podium after Barcia made a mistake (that sent Justin back to seventh).

James Stewart hurt his knee on the very last lap of practice and spent most of the night just riding gingerly around. James wasn’t taking any chances and he gave ground if anyone ran it up under his tender right leg. Even with that handicap, Bubba got out of Dodge with a respectable eighth.

Chad Reed was at Anaheim, but nobody saw him. He spent a quiet night in fourth (and even when Dungey fell down, he wasn’t close enough to do anything about it).

It is highly likely that Eli Tomac would have won the Anaheim 250 West class no matter what happened, but he was helped by a big first turn crash that wiped out several of his competitors (including, Blake Baggett and Martin Davalos).

ELI TOMAC INTERVIEW:

The Pro Circuit duo (Blake and Martin) were caught up in a crash that was started with TLD’s Jessy Nelson dropped the nose on the very first jump combination (while leading). Nelson flipped over the bars and his flying bike collected the front part of the pack. Davalos pulled out immediately. Baggett continued on to finish 14th. This was a blow to the Pro Circuit team’s 250 West Championship hopes, but Tyla Rattray upheld a small amount of team honor by riding stiffly to eighth place.

Ken Roczen was second, but then isn’t he always second.

Cole Seely came back from a ten-month layoff to get third.
