AUSTRALIAN SUPERCROSS SERIES: SIMMONDS AND MOSS
In a rain storm that forced the race promoters to cancel their plans for multiple heat races to determine the 450 winner?the Australian Supercross Series opening round in Melbourne was changed to a single 12-lap moto for the 450 class.

JDR KTM’s Ty Simmonds took the 450 win in front of Billy Mackenzie (Kawasaki), Ryan Marmont (KTM), Cheyne Boyd (Honda) and Daniel McCoy (Suzuki). Mackenzie, from Scotland, grabbed the holeshot and led until the halfway point, when the experienced mud rider slid out, Tye Simmonds went on by for the victory. Ryan Marmont finished third in his first-ever 450 Supercross race

In the 250 class, which did race two motos (although only six-lappers), Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris took the win in the first heat with Matt Moss (Yamaha), Josh Cachia (KTM), Brenden Harrison (KTM) and Luke Styke (Yamaha) rounding out the top five.

CDR Yamaha’s Matt Moss won the second heat and took the overall victory when Dean Ferris fell in the mud. Moss won in front of his teammate Brenden Harrison (3-2) with Luke Styke third. The Australian Monster Energy Super X series will continue next Saturday, October 29, at Wollongong’s WIN Stadium in New South Wales.
