Kade Mosig during last year’s OZ Supercross series.

KADE MOSIG: Kade Mosig will miss the remainder of the Australian National series to rehab his injured knee, He hopes that if he takes time off he will be able to race the Australian Supercross series which starts in September

DYLAN PETERSON: 31-year-old Dylan Peterson will fill-in for Kade Mosig at the Zero Seven Motorsports team for the final three rounds of the 2013 Nationals.

PETER BOYLE: Carlton Dry Honda has signed offroad racer Peter Boyle to fill-in for a host of unlucky Carlton Dry 250 riders this season (including Josh Cachia and Jackson Richardson). Boyle hasn’t raced the Australian Nationals since 2007.

Dean Ferris.

MXDN TEAM: Australia has yet to name its 2013 Motocross des Nations team, but they have a hard decision to make. The only shoo-in for the team is Dean Ferris, who has raced the 250 GP’s all season long and is currently sixth in the points. The basic argument is whether to stick with homegrown talent (riders that are part of the current Australian series, like Todd Waters) or go with foreign=based riders like Chad Reed and Brett Metcalfe. Matt Moss, who is currently leading the Australian 450 Championship has removed himself from consideration for the 2013 team. Then you have Luke Styke, who has totally dominated the Australian 250 National Championships.

Tye Simmonds raced in America in 2011.

THE YEAR OF THE FILL-IN: With injuries, retirements, comebacks and team switching, the Australian Nationals have been hectic. Tye Simmonds quit midseason and was replaced by Cheyne Boyd. Ben Townley decided to retire two weeks before the season started. Ford Dale went out of action with a knee injury early on. Daniel McCoy quit Carlton Dry a couple races into the 2013 Nationals and then announced that he would ride KTM’s in the upcoming Aussie Supercross series. Gareth Swanepoel flew in to replace Townley, Dale and McCoy at Honda. Josh Cachia was sidelined with a recurring wrist injury. Jackson Richardson filled in for Josh Cachia, but broke his femur his first time out. Now, Kade Mosig is out and Dylan Peterson is in and Peter Boyle will be the new fill-in at Carlton Dry Honda.

KALE MAKEHAM: Kale Makeham has pushed his KTM two-stroke to second overall in the 250 National Championship. Kale is 91 point behind points leader Luke Styke, but 28 points ahead of third place rider Brock Winston.

Josh Hill.

AMERICANS: Josh Hill and Gavin Faith will race the Australian Supercross series in September and the promoter is looking for more American talent to dome over.
