DICK WILK
MX1 SUSPENSION OWNER/OPERATOR

STARTING POINT:
“I started working on bikes for my own racing. Back in the ’70s, there was tons of room for improvement, and I enjoyed it. I worked in shops for other people for a while. Then, when I graduated from college, I opened my own business.”

THE JOB:
“Really, the best part of the job is getting to work with good people. I don’t do repairs, so by the time people come to me they know what they want. Working with racers is much more fun than dealing with the general public, as you would in a normal motorcycle shop. I also enjoy new technology. There are always at least one or two model bikes that are completely different from the year before. I get to apply everything that I know and figure out how to make them better. It’s an ongoing challenge that keeps it fresh.”
