DAMON CONKRIGHT
PRO CIRCUIT ENGINE DEVELOPMENT MECHANIC

STARTING POINT: “I raced locally and was friends with pro Steve Mertens. He asked me to be his mechanic in 2002. I’d never been to a Supercross before that year.”

THE JOB
: “Right now, I am splitting my responsibilities between being Josh Hansen’s Supercross mechanic and working on Pro Circuit engine development. When the new bikes are released, I dyno them, dismantle them, spec the parts and give the dimensions to our engineers. After they come back with a game plan for the piston, cams, valves and pipe, I build the test engines for dyno and race testing. Mitch Payton believes in constantly testing every part that we sell to our customers. I test until they tell me to quit. We are looking for an equal mix of horsepower and reliability.”
