We took an MXA sponsored field trip to the E3 show this past week and made it our mission to test every motocross game we could get our hands on. Here is what we discovered:
The motocross videogames set to be released in late 2002 and 2003 are as follows. Big Air (sequel to Mx Rider), Freekstyle (EA Sports replacement for their Supercross game), MX Superfly (Carmichael’s game with a new title), ATV Offroad Fury 2 and a yet to be named title by Activision featuring Travis Pastrana.
At E3 we got to play all the titles except for Pastrana’s game. So far the running order from best to worst is as follows: 1. ATV Offroad Fury 2 (Looks like the old one with new tracks) 2. Mx Superfly (Handles better than last years Carmichael game, but is still far to loose when the bike’s in the air) 3. Big Air (Still doesn’t have all that great of graphics, but features real tracks and decent physics) 4. Freekstyle (Looks good, plays good, but doesn’t feature any real motocross tracks).
As the videogames become available look for full reviews on our website and in the magazine.
