It seems long ago that Mitch Payton’s Pro Circuit race shop moved on from its traditional Husqvarna team and signed a deal with Roger DeCoster to run the factory-backed 125 Honda team. It was a big move for Honda to hand over a portion of its racing program to a private enterprise. There is no doubt that Mitch has the knack for racing, but even more amazing is that he was able to negotiate with Honda to allow him to run blue and white Hondas?and give all of the primary sponsor space to his outside sponsor?Peak Antifreeze.

Mitch’s first 1991 Honda team consisted of Brian Swink, Jeremy McGrath, Jeromy Buehl and Steve Lamson (shown above). No team, before or since, has ever captured the “team look” as well as Team Peak. After winning several 125 Supercross crowns for Honda, Kawasaki lured Mitch away and the team is now known as Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
