Davi Millsaps is a real deal and he is quickly making everyone forget the old Davi. The new Davi is in shape, he fights hard for his position and when he gets passed he kicks it into overdrive and fights back. And the new Davi is a fan favorite! Everybody loves an underdog, but if Davi keeps on winning, he won’t be considered an underdog for long.

The 250 class victory went to Eli Tomac, but he came very close to losing the race when Roczen came out of nowhere to miss passing Eli by a bike length at the finish. Tomac won the day and got 25 points, but Roczen played good defense and got 22 points. The points difference between the two is now 17 points. No one else is in the running (third place Jason Anderson is 43 points back).

THE 250 CLASS:

ELI TOMAC MISSING THE TRIPLE

What brilliant marketing man at Feld thinks that taking a 9-week break in the 250 West action represents anything even closely resembling smart entertainment planning? With Tomac and Roczen engaged in weekly wars for the 250 West crown, they will now sit on the sidelines for 62 days before they race each other again. By the time they return to action, all the heat generated by the first six races will be dead cold.

Making the crime even worse is the fact that no East Coast Supercross fans will get to see Eli Tomac, Ken Roczen, Cole Seely, Martin Davalos, Tyla Rattray, Jessy Nelson, Malcolm Stewart or Zach Osborne race a 250 Supercross this year. That’s like seeing the Beatles in concert, but without Ringo or John.

Come on guys, snap out of it! Just combine the 250 East/West into one unified AMA 250 Supercross Championship and provide the fans the best entertainment value possible…instead of showing the first half of “Gone With the Wind” and then announcing to the audience that the second half will be shown in 2-1/2 months.

THE 450 CLASS:

DAVI MILLSAPS ON NOT READING THE PIT BOARD

On a track that favored the guy with the holeshot, Davi Millsaps got it. And although he came under pressure from Chad Reed, until Chad crashed, and Justin Barcia, until Bam Bam started making mistakes, the holeshot was Davi’s secret weapon.

Millsaps second win of the six-race season moved him 19 points clear of Ryan Dungey, who is second overall in points, and 27 points ahead of Ryan Villopoto and Trey Canard.

Chad Reed threw away what looked like a sure win when he lost the front end in a bowl turn and went down. This came right after he closed the gap on Davi Millsaps and was looking good. Chad salvaged a fifth, but he wasn’t a happy camper. Chad is now 35 points behind Millsaps.

JUSTIN BARCIA THINKS CHAD HAS “A THING” FOR HIM

James Stewart looked the best he has all series, but still he was still an attractive target for every fast guy coming from behind. Stewart’s fourth was the result of his steady pace and lots of mistakes by his fourth through seventh competition. James is 58 points behind Millsaps?that is two full races plus 8 points.

In fact, Millsaps has a three-race lead in points on every rider outside of the top nine. There are however, 11 races left in the 450 series.
