When the 250 East Supercross series started, Pro Circuit looked like a shoe-in for the title. Adam Cianciarulo, Martin Davalos and Blake Baggett swept several podiums and won most of the races, but then Cianciarulo had to have shoulder surgery, Blake Baggett has some eye issues (and he is in points trouble and since he isn’t in the title chase in 2014, missing races could keep him in the class next year) and, worst of all, Martin Davalos broke his ankle. All three will miss this weekend’s New York round.
Davalos has an 8-point lead heading into New York, but crashed while testing earlier this week and suffered a broken ankle. He’s already undergone surgery to repair the injury. Mitch Payton said, “It is a shame that we had all of our guys get injured on the East Coast. We were in a great position to win another title and I feel for Martin right now. He has already had surgery and is going to push to get back as soon as he can. With Blake we didn’t want to risk anything, so we are going to make sure he can ride with the contact lens and hopefully he can come back and get a win in Las Vegas.”
