The new Husqvarna team.
After the announcement several months ago at the Fermo GP that Husqvarana would return to race the FIM Motocross World Championship, the Italian manufacturer has recently made their line up for the 2011 official. Italian Alessandro Lupino and American Michael Leib will form the 250 (MX2) team under the management of Ricci Racing (a Yamaha team last year).
Team Ricci will also support Andrea Cervellin in the UEM European MX2 series. With the new TC250 the Italian will try to improve on his runner-up position in the 2010 UEM European MX2 Championship.
After three successful seasons in the MX3 World Championship and in the EMX2 European Championship, where Husqvarna took second in MX3 with Salvini as well as a second and fourth position in the EMX2 in 2010, the manufacturer is eager to take part again in the FIM Motocross World Championship which they left at the end of 2005, their last season in MX1 with Antoine Meo and Daniele Bricca.
Pierluigi Zampieri and Martino Bianco.
Husqvarna Racing Activities Coordinator Martino Bianchi said, “After the wonderful season we have had in the European series, we are back in the FIM Motocross World Championship ? where we have not race since 2005 ? to get experience and develop our TC250. It is a very important category for us, and after winning the FIM Enduro World Championship this year, we also want to grow in the Motocross World Championship, which is the F1 of the offroad. For us it would be ideal to be able to finish among the top ten riders with at least one of our two riders.”
