LATEST NEWS ON THE RIDER’S PERSONAL WEB SITES:
SINCE WE FIRST LOOKED AT THE RIDER’S SITES, REED AND SHORT HAVE GOTTEN ON THE STICK
In a quick browse through the rider’s personal websites, we decided to check how often they were updated, changed or if they even existed anymore.
One caveat: We didn’t do any extra digging…just went where the average person would go if they were trying to look up a rider.
THERE WERE A FEW SURPRISES:
The first rider we went looking for was Tim Ferry. We tried www.timferry.com, but got nothing. Next, we tried www.timmyferry.com and got an a Japanese website that may or may not be about Tim Ferry. On a hunch we tried www.reddog.com (and all of its derivitatives), but got a technology company, Ice House beer site, web management firm, surf shop, cafe, architectural firm and a pet resort.
When we first searched for Andrew Short‘s website two weeks ago, we only got a reference to a famous sailor by the same name, but since we put this story up www.andrewshort.com has suddenly sprung to life. His site didn’t exist when MXA first ran this story, then it came up as “under construction” and now it is up and running. Good reflexes! Check it out.
Chad Reed’s site, www.chadreedracing.com, was dead as a doornail for the last two months (it was “under construction”). But just this week he got it up and running. We would have loved to have heard the conversion between Chad and his Internet guy about the dead air time.
The other Grant Langston.
www.grantlangston.com does not take you to Grant Langston, the motocross racer, but instead to Grant Langston, the country-western singer’s site. Grant Langston, the racer’s personal site, www.langstonracing.com, takes you to his motorcycle shop’s sales site.
The all-new Ryan Dungey site.
The last time we went to www.ryandungey.com it was full of ancient history and hadn’t been updated in months, but since our “web sites of the stars” story broke a couple weeks ago, Ryan’s site is now new and improved.
www.kevinwindham.com is owned by a trucking company.
David Vuillemin used to be a webaholic. My how the times have changed! David’s famousÿ www.dv12.com site is now a Ford Mustang site (in French).
This is www.ryanvillopoto.com.
This is www.rv2.com.
This is www.ryanvillopotomx.com.
The mystery of Ryan Villopoto’s site is found in the search for it. The most obvious web site address www.ryanvillopoto.com goes to one of those clearinghouse sites full of ads (none of which have anything to do with Ryan Villopoto). Taking a chance that Ryan might use the same web site address idea as Stewart and Vuillemin, we tried www.RV2.com. It was for sale. The www.villopotoracing.com address took us to Kevin Windham’s site (which is actually a trucking site that has obviously co-opt the names of motocross racers). Finally, we found Ryan’s actual site at www.ryanvillopotomx.com (it can also be accessed at www.ryanvillopoto2.com). Unfortunately, the site was “coming soon.”
Although, James might want to update his bio page (above) in light of recent news stories.
Mike Alessi can be found at www.alessiracing.com.
