2016-1/2 KTM 450SXF FACTORY EDITION

450_SX-F_Factory_ri_90_deThe 2016-1/2 450SXF gets an Akrapovic Ti slip-on, ODI clamp-on grips, gold-anodized triple clamps, pleated seat cover, Red Bull team graphics, air forks and D.I.D rims.

WPAER48Thanks to the new 48mm WP AER air forks, the KTM will be 4 pounds lighter in 2017. It was already the lightest bike in the 450 class by several pounds, but now it is into 250F territory.

450_SX-F_Factory_le_90_deThe orange frame is back, but probably won’t be on the production 2017 model. The 450SXF’s steel clutch basket on the diaphragm clutch is lighter, along with a redesigned pressure plate. As always the KTM factory will make at least 400 of each bike to meet the AMA homologation rules (altough the number grows somewhat to provide enough bikes for the races teams, product planning and media).

2016-1/2 KTM 250SXF FACTORY EDITION

250_SX-F_Factory_ri_90_deThe 2016-1/2 250SXF Factory Edition gets the Troy Lee Designs look, because TLD is now the official 250 team of KTM (the factory team has gone all-450 with Dungey, Musquin and Wilson). We not so sure how the public will accept the “13” on the number plates, but this year, instead of inmolding the numbers to the sidepanels, the “13” will come in the form of old-school numbers in the crate. Last year the KTM 250SXF weighed the same as the YZ250F (221 pounds on MXA’s scale). The 2016 Factory Edition and 2017 production bike will come in closer to 218 pounds on our scale.

250_SX-F_Factory_le_90_deThe 48mm WP AER air forks have the damping in one leg and the air pressure in the other. The single-air-pressure AER forks cannot go flat even if a fork seal blows out. Standard air pressure in the 250SXF is 154 psi. This is only the second year that KTM has offered a 250cc version of the Factory Edition. Instead of the Akrapovic muffler like the 450SXF, the 250SXF Factory Edition gets an FMF  slip-on.
