Round eight of the 2019 AMA Nationals is set to take place this Saturday at the Spring Creek MX Park just outside of Millville, Minnesota. With only five rounds left in the 2019 season, Eli Tomac and Adam Cianciarulo are maintaining comfortable points leads while the rest of the competition is searching for ways to dethrone the two Kawasaki riders. The Spring Creek track combined with the hot and humid Minnesota weather in the July is known for creating one of the toughest races of the season. We are excited to see how it plays out, keep checking back with MXA for results and news from round eight of the AMA Nationals.

ELI TOMAC MAINTAINS THE RED PLATE

Eli Tomac_2019 Southwick NationalEli Tomac holds a 34-point lead over KTM’s Marvin Musquin.

After finishing in the runner up position at the Florida National and rounding out the podium in third at Southwick, Eli Tomac was able to rebound at Redbud and grab the win in front of a very patriotic Michigan crowd. Marvin had a swing of momentum going, but the win at round seven allowed Eli to retake the momentum back and extend his lead to 34 points. His Redbud National win also tied him on the all-time wins list with James Stewart, they both have 20 overall wins in the 450 class.

MARVIN MUSQUIN IS STILL ON THE RISE

Marvin Musquin 2019 Redbud NationalMarvin Musquin is second in the 450 Championship point standings.

After his two-race win streak at the sand Florida and Southwick Nationals, Marvin Musquin wasn’t able to keep the overall wins going at Redbud. But he was able to grab another Moto win. A crash on the opening lap in the first 450 Moto at Redbud left the Frenchman stuck underneath his bike. After an Alpinestars Medic and a member of the track crew pulled the bike off of him, Marvin mounted a heroic charge through the pack to pass 31 riders and finish 7th. Then in the second race he would go on to win and earn a second overall on the day.

KEN ROCZEN IS GRINDING IT OUT

Roczen Fifth at RedBud NationalKen Roczen finished fifth at the Redbud National.

Ken Roczen has been struggling ever since the series went East. After holding the red plate early in the season, Ken has unfortunately dealt with more physical issues that have hindered his performances. 6-3 moto scores earned Ken 5th overall at Redbud which was a step in the right direction for the German who has found himself outside of the top ten multiple times as of late.

DYLAN FERRANDIS IS FINDING HIS GROOVE

Dylan Ferrandis 250 podium 2019 Redbud NationalDylan Ferrandis, Adam Cianciarulo and Justin Cooper rounded out the podium at round seven.

ALEX MARTIN IS HEADED HOME TO MILLVILLE

Alex Martin 2019 Fox National pala motocross raceway-9191Alex Martin is literally headed home this week. His parents own and operate the Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota and Alex grew up on the same property.

Alex Martin finished 11th overall at Rudbud, but his result doesn’t accurately represent how well the rider from Minnesota was doing before his bike failed him only three corners away from the finish line in Moto 1. A radiator hose came off of his JGR RM-Z250 and his bike was degrading throughout the Moto until it finally expired. Alex was able to rebound in the second Moto and finish third place which was his first Moto podium of the 2019 season. Now with the speed he has shown as of recently and the home track advantage coming into play this Saturday, be sure to keep your eye on Alex Martin at Millville.
