2020 AMA MOTOCROSS NATIONAL POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 5
2020 AMA MOTOCROSS NATIONAL POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 5
The 2020 RedBud National double header was nothing short of exciting. Both the 250 and 450 classes provided big upsets, great battles, underdog stories and even a few crashes at the Friday and Monday races. Coming into RedBud, Zach Osborne and Dylan Ferrandis were the point leaders but both Eli Tomac and Jeremy Martin had momentum on their side after winning at Ironman. In the 450 class, Eli Tomac struggled with crashes and bad starts while Zach Osborne was dominant on Friday and consistent on Monday to extend his lead. In the 250 class, Jeremy Martin was dominant on Friday and not quite dominant on Monday, but still he only lost 3-points to Ferrandis which was minuscule compared to what Ferrandis gave up by crashing in 250 Moto 1 at Round 4 on Friday. 450 POINT STANDINGS (ROUND 5 OF 9)
Zach Osborne goes 1-1 and 4-2 at the RedBud double header and leaves with an even bigger points lead than he had on Eli Tomac than he had coming into the two races.
Zach Osborne wasn’t as good on Monday as he was on Friday. He was passed in the first moto by Eli Tomac, Marvin Musquin and finished fourth and in the second race he was passed by Blake Baggett. Still, he was the most consistent out of the title contenders (better than everyone except Cianciarulo) and he ultimately gained points on Musquin and Tomac in the end. With a 28-point lead and four rounds left in the abbreviated season, it looks like everything is falling into place for the Rockstar Husqvarna rider Zach Osborne.

250 POINT STANDINGS (ROUND 5 OF 9)
Jeremy Martin walks away from the RedBud double header with a nine point lead on Dylan Ferrandis in the Championship.
Coming into Round 4 at RedBud, Dylan Ferrandis had the points lead and it looked like he would be hard to beat barring any mistakes. Well, those mistakes came on Friday at RedBud #1 when Dylan Ferrandis crashed all on his own at the beginning of 250 Moto 1. Ultimately, Ferrandis was only able to recover from his crash with a seventh in Moto 1 on Friday and then a bad start in Moto 2 made it extra hard for him to earn third in the race and fourth overall at Round 4. Then, on Monday, at Round 5 of the double header, Ferrandis again had a bad start and this time while trying to pass the new points leader Jeremy Martin for sixth place, Dylan ran into Jeremy’s handlebars and took them both down. After that, Dylan got up to finish fifth and make up major points on Martin who only earned an 11th place. In Moto 2, Martin rebounded to take the win while Ferrandis fought from behind again to finish second and earn second overall. Surprisingly with how the AMA point structure works, Dylan only gained 3-points on Jeremy at Redbud #2.

With a weekend off before we go racing at Millville, Dylan Ferrandis has some time to recover. However, Millville is literally Jeremy Martin’s home track, so he will be on the gas there again.
The only fans at RedBud this year were the ones who signed up and paid the money to race on the Amateur days in between the two Nationals.
More fans lining the fences. We look forward to RedBud next year when the rest of the RedBud crowds can return to the infield.
