2020 SALT LAKE CITY SUPERCROSS ROUND 14 | 450 MAIN EVENT RESULTS (UPDATED)
2020 SALT LAKE CITY SUPERCROSS ROUND 14 | 450 MAIN EVENT RESULTS
Round 14 of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross season is here and all eyes are on Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb as race fans are looking for a repeat of Sundays 450 Main Event. Cooper and Eli battled hard throughout the entire Main Event and put on a clinic for the rest of the 450 class at Round 13. Ken Roczen has struggled at the last two rounds, finishing 5th and 10th in the Mains. It wasn’t pretty for the HRC Honda rider on Sunday, but today is a new day and Ken Roczen said that he’s not giving up and he’s going to continue to fight. Stay tuned to MXA for results updated throughout the night from the Salt Lake City Supercross.
450 MAIN EVENT RESULTS
Ken Roczen grabbed the holeshot, but Cooper Webb snuck into the lead right away on the second straightaway. Osborne was third with Chad Reed in fourth. Eli Tomac had a horrible start, he was buried back in the middle of the pack. Just like the Heat race, Ken Roczen was all over Webb, but this time Cooper Webb was jumping the triple-triple before the finish line and this was helping him stay in front of Roczen. Tomac was outside of the top ten early, but instead of slicing through the pack on the opening laps, Eli wasn’t able to get around the other riders as quick as we would expect. He was still 10th after the first few laps. With just over 13-minutes left Eli Tomac was in seventh place while Ken Roczen passed Webb, but then Cooper snuck around him just two laps later to get back into the lead. Ken Roczen was gaining a lot of ground on Webb in the whoops, but Cooper was able to pull away on the rest of the track. Zach Osborne was also riding strong in third with Baggett fourth and Tomac fifth with 10 minutes to go. With 7-minutes to go, Ken Roczen hit the wall, he starting getting tired and lost a lot of time to Webb and Zach Osborne got around him for second. Eli Tomac got around Roczen for fourth with over three minutes left to go and then he passed Blake Baggett to get onto the podium behind Osborne and Webb with just two laps left.
450 LCQ RESULTS
Freddie Noren grabbed the holeshot in the LCQ, but Ryan Breece took over the lead in turn two although he almost crashed in the process. Vince Friese moved into second early with Noren third and Kyle Cunningham was fourth. Then, in the turn before the finish line Cunningham dove inside of Noren and took him out. Cunningham took the position and Noren went down. Benny Bloss then got around Cunningham to take over third and then he went around Breece for second. Benny Bloss also got around Vince Friese and made his way into the lead.
450 HEAT RACE 2 RESULTS
Martin Davalos grabbed the holeshot on his Monster Energy Team Tedder Racing KTM and he led until late in the race when Eli Tomac made the move to get around him. Blake Baggett finished second with Davalos holding onto third. Dean wilson has been riding good lately in SLC and he finished fourth in the Heat race. Benny Bloss and Justin Brayton were battling for position when they both ended up getting tangled up. Benny Bloss was close, but he wasn’t able to get back into the top nine to qualify for the Main Event.
450 HEAT RACE 1 RESULTS
Zach Osborne grabbed the holeshot with Cooper Webb second. Cooper quickly took the lead in turn two and Roczen went into second early as well. Cooper led, but Ken Roczen was all over him trying to get redemption from the last race on Sunday. Ken was pushing hard and he was making up a lot of time on Cooper in the rhythm section before the finish line. Ken was going triple-triple while Cooper was doubling through. We expect Cooper to get that line figured out for the Main Event, but Ken had him covered there throughout the race. Cooper was able to hold Ken off for the Heat race, but Ken kept it exciting by almost passing him in the final corner.
