2020 SUPERCROSS POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 15

Ken Roczen regains second place in championship points with two rounds to go.

2020 SUPERCROSS POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 15

Round 15 of 17 of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross series is in the books. It wasn’t as exciting as everyone thought. The 450 class looked like it was going to be an interesting main event with Cooper Webb pushing Tomac back and taking the early lead. But Roczen got in front of Webb and lead to the finish. We are guessing both riders thought Roczen was going to get tired as he has been in the second half of the main event, but Roczen held on strong. We also thought Tomac was going to charge hard to pass Webb and Roczen, but he held back with Roczen taking the win and Tomac settling for third.

In the 250 West class the two riders of Austin Forkner and Dylan Ferrandis who are battling for the championship made for an interesting race. Ferrandis got the start from an outside gate. Forkner got up to his rear wheel on lap 14 and slammed into him in a corner pushing Ferrandis off the track. Ferrandis was fine but lost serious ground to Forkner. Ferrandis settled for second with Forkner closing the points gap by 7 points with one round left in the 250 West season.

250 EAST COAST POINT STANDINGS (AFTER ROUND 7 OF 9)

Shane McElrath 2020 SALT LAKE CITY SUPERCROSS ROUND 3 -3172Shane McElrath is now 3-points behind Chase Sexton going into the final two 250 East rounds.

Chase Sexton and Shane McElrath came into Round 13 of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross season tied in points with three rounds to go. Shane was on a roll after winning back-to-back Main Events in Salt Lake City on Sunday and Wednesday prior to Round 13, but Chase Sexton wasn’t going to give up. The first Main Event started off great for both riders, Chase grabbed the holeshot and Shane McElrath was right behind him in second. But the race soon turned sour for Chase as Shane dove up the inside and made an aggressive move to get by Sexton and push him off the track. Chase then got on the track in fifth and was charging again on the first lap when he landed on Enzo Lopes as he tried to triple out of a rhythm section. Then, Garrett Marchbanks crashed all by himself in the rhythm section and sadly he was hurting bad and wasn’t able to get off the track quickly. As a result of Garrett’s crash, the race had to be red flagged so that the medical crew could take care of Marchbanks. Then, the race was restarted and since the leader, Shane McElrath hadn’t completed a full three laps yet. After the restart Shane McElrath grabbed the holeshot, this time with Sexton behind him. Chase then followed Shane until he ran into a lapped rider and went down. After this, Sexton cruised home to a victory on a challenging track while Shane went on to finish second.
