The 2020 San Diego Supercross is over with and there has been a big shift in the 450 Championship point standings. The track was tough and challenging but it made for some great racing. Cooper Webb came into round six 18 points behind the leader Ken Roczen and now he leaves only 9 points behind after Ken Roczen finished sixth place. Eli Tomac also gained two points on Ken Roczen, but he still didn’t get enough points to take over the red plate. Ken Roczen will head into Tampa, Florida, with a one point lead buffer on Eli Tomac and nine point buffer on Cooper Webb.

450 SUPERCROSS POINT STANDING (ROUND 6 OF 17)

Cooper Webb 2020 San Diego Supercross-44Cooper Webb wins in San Diego and gains major points on Roczen and Tomac in the Championship.

The 450SX Main Event was a nail biter as Adam Cianciarulo and Cooper Webb found themselves out front. Cooper lead for a brief moment, but Adam made an aggressive move on the first lap and literally pushed Cooper out of the way. Cooper tried his best to retaliate, but he couldn’t get back around and Adam was able to get some breathing room. Then the cold war was on as the two just matched each other pace throughout the long 20-minute Main Event. Cooper would catch Adam, and then make a mistake and Adam would get some breathing room again. Finally, towards the end of the race Cooper was able to make a move on Adam and take over the lead. Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac both suffered big time with bad starts and with the field stacked with such fast riders, they finished fourth and sixth and lost a lot of ground to Cooper Webb in the title chase.

Dylan Ferrandis 2020 San Diego Supercross-50Dylan Ferrandis grabbed the win in San Diego and he has extended his points lead.

The 250SX Main Event in San Diego was a cat and mouse game between Austin Forkner and Dylan Ferrandis. It was Rockstar Husqvarna rider Michael Mosiman who grabbed the holeshot and the early lead in San Diego. Michael held of Austin Forkner and Dylan Ferrandis for the first four laps while they were battling behind him. Austin was the first rider to get around Mosiman and then Ferrandis did shortly after. Once Dylan and Austin were one and two, the battle was on. Austin did everything he could and he fended off a few of the Frenchman’s attacks, but eventually Dylan was able to dive up the inside of Austin in the off camber corner and take over the lead. Sadly Austin went off the track and lost time to Dylan when he tried to re-enter. Ferrandis held on to take the win with Forkner second, Justin Cooper third and Michael Mosiman fourth.
