2021 AMA MOTOCROSS NATIONAL POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 5

Once again, the 2021 Pro Motocross season has provided awesome racing, close battles, and a handful of moments where we yelled at the TV. Nonetheless, the racing was something you definitely have to go back and watch. In the 250 class, Rj Hampshire was the fastest qualifier while Adam Cianciarulo was the fastest amongst the premier class. After the rain had destroyed the track the day before, the conditions of the course were a night and day difference by the time the gate dropped for the Motos. Scroll down below to find out where your favorite rider lands in the Point Standings.

450 POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 5 – RACE RESULTS

Another intense day for the 450 class. Even winning a moto is simply not enough to get on the overall podium.

In the first moto, Dylan Ferrandis would be supreme on the track, grabbing the lead early and running away with it. Similar in the second moto, Ken Roczen was quick to get out front and set a huge lead, but it was Eli Tomac who would reel in the German rider and win the race. Aaron Plessinger had an excellent first moto but a mechanical at the very start of the second moto would prevent him from getting more than turns into the race, knocking him off the podium. Justin Barcia place second in the first moto but a fourth in the second would knock him down to a third overall, just under Ken Roczen’s second place finish.

We were surprised by Adam’s performance, as he was quick to get a good spot in the motos but would lose steam halfway through both races, dropping multiple positions.

250 POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 5 – RACE RESULTS

Hunter Lawrence’s GP experience showed as the Australian rode the sand like a wave, keeping his momentum through the turns.

The day would be a Hunter Lawrence day as he would win his first overall in AMA Pro Motocross and become the fifth unique rider to win an overall this season. Hunter’s sand experience became clear as he rode the course smoother than the rest of the competition. In second place was Jo Shimoda, who rode exceptional, not making any mistakes and allowing the rest of the competition to override the track. In third was Justin Cooper who did not have the best finish in the first moto, landing in in sixth, but due to some of the riders making catastrophic mistakes, would land on the overall podium. One rider that simply wouldn’t quit was Rj Hampshire. After what very well seemed like five separate crashes, Rj continued to get back up to race speed after each fall. However, the simple mistakes would hold him back from what very well could have been a podium finish, and landing fourth.
