2021 AMA MOTOCROSS NATIONAL POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 6

Round 6 is over and the races featured plenty of close racing a surprising amount of big crashes. Heading into Spring Creek, Jett Lawrence led the 250 points with Justin Cooper just three points behind. In the 450 class, Dylan Ferrandis continued to reign over the premier riders with a sizable 19 point lead over Ken Roczen. What we didn’t expect was for both races to not be in favor of the current points leaders. From small to major mistakes, here’s a brief rundown of how the points shaped up after the 6th round in the series.

450 POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 6 – RACE RESULTS

It looks like Dylan will be holding onto the red plate for a while if he continues his progression in the point standings.

In the first moto, Ken Roczen who sat second in the points would be sucked under the field of 450s after crashing with teammate Chase Sexton in the first turn during the start. Justin Barcia would end up winning the race while Dylan Ferrandis would finish in second. Then in the second moto, it was a flip-flop as Dylan Ferrandis would crash twice while Ken Roczen would win the race. However, Dylan’s crashes in the second moto didn’t phase him as he ran back up to fifth place and gained a sizeable chunk of points on his competitors.

In the first moto, it was Jeremy Martin who would take the win with Justin Cooper chasing in second. The current points leader, Jett Lawrence would finish in fourth place. Then in the second moto, we witnessed an enormous crash that involved half of the top 10 as riders were scattered everywhere on the other side of a jump. Riders like Pierce Brown, Rj Hampshire, Jett Lawrence, and more were involved in the crash while the top three raced their own race. Jeremy Martin would win again with Michael Mosiman taking the second overall. Justin Cooper landed with a third overall while Jett Lawrence made an impressive recovery from the crash earlier in the race, racing all the way back up to sixth for a fourth overall. However, his impressive comeback wouldn’t be enough as Justin Cooper gained the points lead in the championship.
