2021 HANGTOWN NATIONAL PRE-RACE REPORT: THE FINAL ROUND OF THE 2021 PRO MOTOCROSS SEASON

2019 Hangtown 250 start

2021 HANGTOWN NATIONAL PRE-RACE REPORT: THE FINAL ROUND OF THE 2021 PRO MOTOCROSS SEASON

The final round of the season is upon us and it may no longer be a battle for the championship in the 450 class, there is still plenty of great racing to be had in the 250s and 2nd and 3rd still have to be decided in the premier class. In the 250 division, it is still a battle between Jett Lawrence and Justin Cooper as the two are separated by what is now 23 points after Jett’s dominant run at Fox Raceway. The 450 class is still pretty close for second and third as Ken Roczen must hold off the very fast Eli Tomac who only sits 9 points away. After Eli lapped up to ninth place the weekend before, we expect the fight will be close for the two 450 veterans. Scroll down below and find out what you need to know heading into the final round of the 2021 motocross season.

2021 HANGTOWN NATIONAL | FULL COVERAGE

DYLAN FERRANDIS 2021 450 CHAMP

If you haven’t heard yet, Dylan Ferrandis is your 2021 450 champ.

After what was an extremely impressive 250 season the year before, Dylan Ferrandis made lite work of the 2021 season, absolutely hauling butt across the finish line as a rookie. The occurrences for a rookie dominating the 450 class are rare which makes Dylan’s huge lead in the points, even more impressive. There is no doubt that Dylan had the grit and determination to become the 450 champ, but there is still plenty of action we’re looking forward to between Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen for the rest of the podium positions.

THE BATTLE FOR SECOND

The last thing you want to see late-race is the green front fender of Eli Tomac.

We all have that one friend that doesn’t seem to get tired when riding. If you’re a pro rider in the 2021 season, you would know that one friend is Eli Tomac. Eli’s inhuman performance in the 100+ degree weather at Fox Raceway was a statement that yes it may be late in the season, but boy does he wants that second-place position in the points. Now only nine points behind Ken Roczen, we’re eager to witness what exactly will go down at Hangtown.

JETT’S LEAD GROWS

3rd time’s the charm for Jett at Fox Raceway. Or, every time, it seems like.

The 250 championship is currently being dominated by Jett Lawrence as Justin Cooper has been riding well, just not as well as his fellow competitor. The season started out with Jett taking a win but ultimately, Justin Cooper would have a considerably stronger start to the first half of the 2021 championship. However, with the introduction of Jeremy Martin winning a handful of motos and Justin getting sick, Jett Lawrence rose to the occasion and the top of the points leaderboard. Now, Jett leads by over 20 points. With two motos left in the season, anything can happen.

WE’RE RACING HANGTOWN

Don’t worry we’re professionals. Or at least at one point, we were lol.

If you were watching the recent Fox Raceway National, you may have noticed an orange helmet spinning laps in the motos. Or maybe an 830. Well, several of our test riders, Dennis Stapleton (age 40) and Ezra Lewis (first national) qualified for the races. Now, our very own Assistant Editor, test rider, and former professional dirt bike racer Josh Mosiman will be lining up on the gate at Hangtown. Call us crazy, absolutely bonkers, or even insane. Dirt bikes are about having fun, and it looks like we’ll be dabbling once again in this whole Pro Motocross thing.
