2021 INDIANAPOLIS SUPERCROSS 2 PRE-RACE REPORT: NBCSN TV BROADCAST IS DELAYED (UPDATED)
2021 INDIANAPOLIS SUPERCROSS 2 PRE-RACE REPORT: NBCSN TV BROADCAST IS DELAYED
The fifth round of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross is back inside Lucas Oil Stadium located in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Tuesday, February 2nd. Different than the first three rounds, each of the Indianapolis rounds for the triple-header will feature an all-new track layout each time. The first of the three rounds held in Indianapolis had to be slightly redesigned on race day so that riders would not run into chaos jumping over the first turn again if there was a first-turn pileup. The Indy track would also prove to be very difficult for the riders as the rutted Indiana dirt would create an already challenging track, even harder. We wonder if the track’s new redesign will be favored by the riders and if Dirt Wurx will add more water into the dirt so that it doesn’t chip away like the Indy #1 track.
After the first round of the Indianapolis races, we have a good idea of which riders are going to be in the top 5 in the 250 class. The Star Yamaha riders, Colt Nichols and Christian Craig, HRC’s Jett Lawrence, GasGas’s Michael Mosiman, and Pro Circuit’s Jo Shimoda have been consistently in the top 5. As for the 450 class, Ken Roczen holds the points lead with Cooper Webb just 6-points behind him. The 450 class during qualifying in round four was only separated between 2-seconds from the first qualifier to the 20th. With that being said, the 450 class is one of the closest we’ve seen in years and it’s starting to look like we have an idea of who’s going to consistently be in the top 10 and then the top 5.

ELI TOMAC’S 450SX MAIN EVENT CRASH
Eli Tomac seemed content after the race, event after throwing the lead away twice. With the 450SX class being so competitive this year and with Eli being a defending Champion, it seems like he’s more relaxed and he understands that at any race, the points can shift drastically.
Eli Tomac posted via instagram after the race: “Fought all the way to the end tonight, but one to many mistakes cost us the chance at the win. PS- on the podium I said “that was the race of my career” for sure not the case! Meant to say “one of the best races!”’
INDIANAPOLIS 2 SUPERCROSS TRACK MAP: LOTS OF RHYTHM
The second Round in Indy will have a new layout and the third Round will also have a new layout. Not like Houston where Round 1 and 2 reused the same layout in different directions.
450 SUPERCROSS POINTS STANDINGS
Ken Roczen (94) has the points lead with a 6-point advantage over Cooper Webb and Eli Tomac sits in third place 9-points back.
250 SUPERCROSS POINTS STANDINGS
The tie between Colt Nichols (64) and Christian Craig was broken after Colt had a successful day and the Indiana 1 Main Event.
