MXA’S 2021 KAWASAKI KX450 FIRST RIDE VIDEO

New bike season is officially here and the first 2021 model we have in the MXA stables is the 2021 Kawasaki KX450. This bike was all-new in 2019, it stayed exactly the same in 2020 and now, for 2021, the bike has a new clutch, new handlebars and an updated coating on the piston.

For the clutch, Kawasaki removed the judder spring and swapped it out for the same Belleville washer design that KTM uses on their clutches. The clutch also has a new, larger diameter going up from 139mm to 146mm and the friction material on the clutch plates has been revised.

The standard 7/8-inch handlebars that previously came on new Kawasaki models were replaced with oversize 1-1/8-inch Rental 839 bars and the only update inside of the engine was a dry film lubricant coating on the piston skirt.

We’ve enjoyed the bike in its first day of testing, however, the real testing is still to come when we get the rest of our Novice, Intermediate, Pro and Vet test riders on the new 2021 model. Stay tuned to MXA for more First Ride  videos on the new 2021 bikes and look for the full MXA Race Test on the 2021 Kawasaki KX450 coming soon.
