2021 SUPERCROSS SEASON POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 7
2021 SUPERCROSS SEASON POINT STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 7
The conditions were looking bleak heading into round seven of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season as the day before, Florida was hammered with thunderstorms and showers throughout the night and into the morning canceling both Press Day Practice and the early morning practice. Fortunately for the riders, Dirt Wurx had anticipated the poor weather, covering the track with tarps and routing lines for the water to travel out of the track. After the sun came out on race day, the tarps came off revealing a very salvageable track. Dirt Wurx then went straight to work getting rid of the rest of the water in time for qualifying and the day began as normal for Supercross. The first qualifying session showed that the track was quite wet and muddy but by the time the second one came around, the dirt had dried up to make quite good riding conditions. In qualifying, we saw the usual top runners being led by Christian Craig in the 250 class and Adam Cianciarulo leading the 450 class. When it came time for the gate to drop, we would witness another great round of racing. Scroll down below to see how the riders finished and where they sit in the points chase.

450 SUPERCROSS POINTS AFTER ROUND 7 OF 17
Cooper Webb has been relentlessly battling for the points lead against Ken Roczen.
In the first round of timed qualifying, the track times were considerably slower compared to those in the second qualifying session. This showed that the track drying up was starting to play in favor of the riders. Adam Cianciarulo walked away from qualifying with the fastest overall time, just .008 of a second in front of 2019 champ Cooper Webb. When the gate dropped in the first 450 Heat Race, 450 rookie Shane McElrath would score the holeshot and lead for the majority of the race with Eli Tomac following behind. Eventually, Eli made the pass on Shane and Eli would win the first Heat. In the second Heat Race, Ken Roczen would hold onto the lead for the whole race like we’ve seen during the season and won the second Heat. When the gate dropped for the Main Event, Zach Osborne would grab the holeshot and lead the 450 class with Justin Brayton and Ken Roczen just behind. Zach would fall back letting Ken, Justin, and Cooper by. Justin Brayton then led the race but the two would get caught up and Cooper Webb would squeeze by and lead the rest of the race. Ken would close the gap on the number 2 but it was too late as Cooper would be the first to reach the checkers.

250 EAST COAST SUPERCROSS POINTS AFTER ROUND 7 OF 9
Christian Craig went down hard in the second Heat Race.
The 250s were the first to brace the wet Florida dirt in qualifying, but some riders were completely unfazed by the wet conditions. Christian Craig and the other top four runners immediately put down their fast laps without hesitating and these times only got faster by time the second qualifying session came around. Christian Craig would get the fastest qualifying time followed by his teammate Colt Nichols. Colt Nichols would make short work of Comporese who snagged the holeshot in the first 250 Heat and would lead the entire race. In the second Heat Race, Mitchell Oldenburg grabbed the holeshot but would get passed by Christian Craig shortly after. Unfortunately for Christian, the 29 would go down hard after making a mistake through one of the rhythm sections and ride off the track holding his wrist. Jett Lawrence won the second Heat Race with a healthy gap on the rest of the field. Christian Craig would win the LCQ injured and move on to the Main Event. In the Main Event, Jett grabbed the holeshot and would end up leading the whole race with Colt Nichols just behind. Christian Craig got an okay start and would hold on to third place with an injury but would not be able to catch up to the leaders. Jett won the Main Event and with Christian getting third, he salvaged a significant portion of points and only lost two.
