2022 BUDDS CREEK NATIONAL // 250 OVERALL RACE RESULTS

There’s three rounds left in the 2022 Pro Motocross season as we’ve arrived at Budds Creek. In qualifying, Jett Lawrence was easily the fastest rider on the track and still holds a considerable points lead after salvaging plenty of points at Unadilla. His brother Hunter and past teammate Jo Shimoda still sit in second and third place in the points but will they be able to close the gap by time the series ends? Who do you think will take the overall at Budds Creek? Find out down below as we report all the action LIVE from Budds Creek.

250 MOTO 2 RACE RESULTS

Justin Cooper crossed the holeshot line first with Max Vohland in second. Jett Lawrence grabbed a horrible start as the Honda team has had a case of bad luck in both classes. Jett sat back in 20th but it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen him gain serious ground on the competition. A rider even crashed in front of the Aussie and their bike went flipping in front of him.  After four minutes, Jo Shimoda took the lead from Justin Cooper. Except for a lap later, Justin would take his spot back after Jo threw a nasty scrub in front of his competition. With 18 minutes left in the race, Jo Shimoda made the pass once again for the lead.

At the 13 minute mark, the Lawrence brothers were duking it out for eighth place as Jett took the charge and made the pass. Within the next couple of laps, Jett started making moves, charging up to fifth place. Hunter Lawrence would have his second crash of the moto and Rj Hampshire would take second place away from Justin Cooper. With three laps remaining, Jett moved up into fourth place past Jalek Swoll. Coming back from 20th place, Jett would land in 3rd, Rj Hampshire in second taking the overall, and Jo would win another moto.

250 MOTO 1 RACE RESULTS

Rj Hampshire grabbed the holeshot with Michael Mosiman chasing in second place. Jalek Swoll and Justin Cooper got tangled up and Michael Mosiman took the lead away from the Husky rider. The track proved to be very slippery with Nate Thrasher tipping over out of his third place and Pierce Brown falling over a lap later. Jo Shimoda eventually made the pass on the new Star Yamaha rider Guillem Farres for fifth place. Hunter Lawrence found himself off the track tangled up in KTM banners halfway through the race. Rj Hampshire would make the pass on Mosiman and the points leader Jett Lawrence would soon be on his tail. However, it would be his own doing as Michael would lose front-end traction, washing the front end out.

With 8 minutes remaining, Jo Shimoda made the pass on Max Vohland for fourth place and would soon gain ground on Michael Mosiman. Back in eight place, there was a four way battle between Justin Cooper, Cameron McAdoo, Hunter Lawrence, and Josh Varize. Due to the nature of the track turning into one line, the lappers would play a huge factor blocking plenty of passing opportunities to be made by the lead lap riders. On the final lap, Jo Shimoda made the pass on Michael Mosiman but a few turns later Michael would make a ridiculously close pass. However, it didn’t end there as Jo would take his position back a couple of turns later.

Rj would go on to win his first moto since 2020.
