2022 IRONMAN NATIONAL // 250 OVERALL RACE RESULTS

We’ve arrived to Ironman Raceway for the second to last round of the 2022 Pro Motocross season. As the series is soon to wrap up, Jo Shimoda, Hunter Lawrence, and Justin Cooper are desperately running out of time to catch up to the leader Jett Lawrence. While Jett hasn’t had the greatest success at the past two rounds, he still has a massive points lead in the standings and we wonder if he may be able to clinch the title at Ironman. We will have to find out when the gate drops and the 250 class battles for the overall. Also, a handful of riders are making their pro debut including Haiden Deegan, Gavin Towers, and several other riders who are returning from Lorettas.

250 MOTO 2 RACE RESULTS

Justin Cooper added another holeshot to his career and Haiden Deegan’s debut ride would continue to be a struggle, crashing in the second turn with Slade Smith. Jo Shimoda took the lead within the first lap and the points leader Jett Lawrence sat all the way back in 12th. Seth Hammaker who racing in sixth would also go down. Halfway through the race, not much would happen except Jett had already crept up into the front of the pack. By the 10 minute mark, he was already in third.

With five minutes left, Rj Hampshire moved up into fifth place past Nate Thrasher. With a minute and two laps left, Rj had made the move past Justin Cooper for fourth. Jo Shimoda would go on to grab another moto win.

250 MOTO 1 RACE RESULTS

Nate Thrasher grabbed the holeshot while his teammate who’s typically grabbing the holeshot, Justin Cooper would bump and bar bang in the back. Michael Mosiman had a get off in a corner and would get back to his bike. Max Vohland found his groove in the race, passing Rj Hampshire for second place. Jett Lawrence who didn’t get the greatest start snaked his way up to fourth place after two laps. Similar to Jett, Justin Cooper also made an impressive comeback racing to fifth place.

Max Vohland showed up to Ironman with some spunk as he soon closed the gap on the leader Nate Thrasher. But while Max was closing space on Nate, both Jett Lawrence and Rj had done the same on the KTM rider. Jett would eventually make the pass on Max with 17 minutes left in the race. A lap later, Rj would also make the pass on Max, moving up to fourth place. After moving up to second, Jett set his eyes on Nate Thrasher. With 13 minutes left, Jett executed the pass and would take the lead, setting a two second gap half a lap later.

Eventually, Max Vohland’s impressive race pace would slowly die out and pretty soon Justin Cooper, Hunter Lawrence, and Jo Shimoda would make their passes. With 7 minutes left in the race, Hunter Lawrence was knocking on Justin Cooper’s door. And in one fell swoop, both Hunter and Jo would make the pass on Justin in one corner.

*UPDATE* Hunter Lawrence and Justin Cooper have received a penalty after jumping with safety flags and the lights on. Now the only rider in possible contention of catching up to Jett Lawrence in the championship is Jo Shimoda

Instagram will load in the frontend.

With three laps left, Jo would make an unfortunate tumble in a turn while battling with Hunter Lawrence. A lap later, Hunter Lawrence would make the pass on Nate and Star Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan would have a crash while racing in 11th place. With two laps left, Michael Mosiman who was in dead last in the first lap would now be found in 14th. Jett would go on to win yet another moto.
