2023 SUPERCROSS POINT STANDINGS (AFTER ROUND 5 OF 17)

2023 SUPERCROSS POINT STANDINGS (AFTER ROUND 5 OF 17)

Tampa delivered in both classes this weekend as both the 450 and 250 Main Events had us at the edge of our seats in excitement. In the 250 class, Hunter Lawrence already had the red plate but a drastic mistake in the Main Event would shake things up as the race came to a close. In the 450 class, we had expected it to be another Eli Tomac show but when a bad start and top riders in the class mix, things started to get chaotic as the night came to an end.

So scroll down below to get a brief synopsis of the Main Events but make sure to check out our Race Results post to find out all the details of Tampa.

450 CLASS POINT STANDINGS (AFTER ROUND 5 OF 17)

A lot of fantasy picks this weekend didn’t make people happy.

We’re still waiting for a race this season when the 450 class disappoints. Fortunately for us, Tampa did not. Eli Tomac would be cursed with a poor start during the Main Event while Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton would fly away from the pack within just a few turns.

Eventually, the gap between the leaders would evaporate with Cooper Webb playing mind games for about six minutes. Chase Sexton would fall under pressure through the whoops section resulting in Cooper Webb breaking his win hiatus. Now, the lead for the championship is still under Eli’s control, but sits only two points from Chase and four from Cooper.

POS. # NAME Total Points
1 1 Eli Tomac 113
2 23 Chase Sexton 111
3 2 Cooper Webb 109
4 21 Jason Anderson 93
5 94 Ken Roczen 92
6 7 Aaron Plessinger 85
7 51 Justin Barcia 80
8 9 Adam Cianciarulo 67
9 17 Joey Savatgy 67
10 45 Colt Nichols 61
11 28 Christian Craig 59
12 14 Dylan Ferrandis 56
13 15 Dean Wilson 47
14 46 Justin Hill 40
15 32 Justin Cooper 32
16 12 Shane McElrath 28
17 80 Kevin Moranz 18
18 60 Justin Starling 18
19 11 Kyle Chisholm 16
20 27 Malcolm Stewart 15
21 751 Josh Hill 14
22 47 Fredrik Noren 14
23 44 Benny Bloss 13
24 68 Cade Clason 12
25 25 Marvin Musquin 11
26 519 Joshua Cartwright 11
27 78 Grant Harlan 8
28 73 John Short 8
29 140 Alex Ray 2

Chase Sexton is only two points away from Eli Tomac, but will his mistakes in the final moments of races hold him back?

A questionable block pass on Justin Barcia would result in Jason’s struggle throughout the night despite looking incredibly fast and possibly the contender for a win in Tampa.

250 EAST CLASS POINT STANDINGS (AFTER ROUND 2 OF 10)

Hunter Lawrence extended his lead on the championship, but not without having a couple close calls along the way.

When the Main Event commenced, Hunter would be nowhere near the front as the leaders pulled away. Eventually, Hunter would duck and dive through the field and catch up to the leader Nate Thrasher who virtually raced the entire Main Event with little to no competition.

Hunter would surprise Nate as the two collided at the exit of the sand section on the last lap. The two drag raced to the last turn with Hunter cutting off Nate’s line and taking the win.

POS. # NAME Total Points
1 96 Hunter Lawrence 52
2 63 Max Anstie 44
3 238 Haiden Deegan 38
4 6 Jeremy Martin 36
5 128 Tom Vialle 33
6 31 Michael Mosiman 33

9 58 Jordon Smith 29
10 62 Jace Owen 23
11 57 Chris Blose 23
12 285 Coty Schock 23
13 99 Hardy Munoz 20
14 66 Henry Miller 19
15 339 Talon Hawkins 16
16 67 Cullin Park 14
17 243 Caden Braswell 11
18 247 Brock Papi 11
19 125 Luke Neese 10
20 174 Luca Marsalisi 6
21 91 Jeremy Hand 5
22 460 Michael Hicks 5
23 170 Devin Simonson 5
24 86 Josiah Natzke 2
25 330 A J Catanzaro 1

Nate Thrasher rode very well at Tampa, but Hunter’s drive for the win is what would result in Nate’s second place finish.

A third place finish for Max Anstie would keep him third in the points.
