2023 SUPERCROSS POINT STANDINGS (AFTER ROUND 6 OF 17)
Coming into the 2023 Oakland Supercross, it was a tight battle at the front of the 450 class. Eli Tomac has had the red plate since the opening round at Anaheim 1 when he grabbed the win. However, a tough race for Eli and a second place for Chase Sexton at Tampa allowed the points gap to close to a mere two points separating the front two riders. Plus, Cooper Webb was only four points behind Eli Tomac after his win in Florida.
In the 250 class, Jett Lawrence has managed his lead with two wins and a second place finish coming into Oakland, with Cameron McAdoo and RJ Hampshire both having crashes that have damaged their points.

450 CLASS POINT STANDINGS (AFTER ROUND 6 OF 17)
Eli Tomac wins at Oakland to extend his points lead.
The 450SX Main Event was fairly uneventful to begin with, Chase Sexton slowly pulled away from Eli Tomac to develop a healthy five second lead, while both riders snuck away from Cooper Webb early. Webb struggled in the whoops while Chase figured out a way to jump through them consistently each lap. However, after riding 75 percent of the Main Event flawlessly, Chase Sexton made a mistake over the dragon’s back, almost going down. Then, a few moments later, he crashed on the landing of the triple after the finish line jump. It looked like Chase did no wrong, but the Honda CRF450 flung him off the bike.
It was impressive to see Cooper Webb’s late race charge to pass Chase Sexton and pressure Eli Tomac on the last lap, but ultimately it was Tomac who took the win.

Jett Lawrence extends his lead to 20 points over Rj Hampshire.
The 250 West Main Event started with RJ Hampshire out front and Cameron McAdoo second. Even though he was third early, Jett Lawrence looked like he was going to play it cool and wait for a mistake. Early on, Cameron McAdoo bobbled in the whoops, allowing the points leader to get by. Then, while out front, Rj Hampshire washed his front end and went down, handing Jett his third win of the season.
