250 QUALIFYING RESULTS | 2020 THUNDER VALLEY NATIONAL

The 2020 AMA Nationals has just two rounds left, and for the Thunder Valley National located in Lakewood Colorado, the championship is separated between two veteran 250 riders. Dylan Ferrandis and Jeremy Martin were head to head for the points chase and with Dylan doing exceptionally well at the previous round scoring a 1-1 at WW Ranch, Jeremy was going to have to play the catch-up game. 13 Points separated the two time 250 champion and the Frenchman and this season of Pro Motocross has shown us that anything could happen. Will Dylan Ferrandis win by a points lead or will Jeremy Martin close the gap and lay it down at the final round of the 2020 Pro Motocross Season?

250 OVERALL QUALIFYING RESULTS

Shane McElrath

The second session of timed qualifying for the 250 class showed us slower laptimes by more than 5 seconds across the board in the first half of the session. After only having three qualifying sessions on the track, large ruts were already forming and the track looked pretty rough for how little seat time took place on it. For the second session Jarrett Frye and Hunter lawrence held the top two positions. Second place points leaser Jeremy Martin jumped ahead of Hunter Lawrence for second place and then Dylan Ferrandis jumped to first with a 2:09. However the rookie on the 134 bike, took his second place spot back. The second place position played a game of hot potato as Shane McElrath then took the position leading to Justin Cooper jumping to the top and Dylan falling into second. One thing we noticed was that the 250s were struggling significantly in one section of the track despite clearing it consistently. A large step up in the track was forcing the 250 riders to hit it wide open and barely make it. Rj Hampshire then threw down a heater jumping up to the fourth position with Frye now sitting behind him. However the last lap involved Jeremy Martin trying his hardest and then sitting in fourth and Dylan Ferrandis just squeezing by Cooper for the top position.

250 FIRST SESSION QUALIFYING RESULTS

Justin Cooper qualified fastest in the first session.

Star Yamaha flew into the first session of timed qualifying with a remarkable lineup first through sixth featuring Justin Cooper, Shane McElrath, Dylan Ferrandis, rookie debut Nate Thrasher, and Jarrett Frye. This season we have seen a handful of rookies perform exceedingly well in qualifying but struggled to find their footing when it came to racing. It is always exciting to see someone who’s first time racing with the top pros performs a lot better than most of them in qualifying. Second in points Jeremy qualified in eighth. After Pro Motocross fixed an issue with live timing, these were the final times for the first round of timed qualifying.
