It’s finally time to experience the first round of the 2021 Supercross season and this year the racing starts in Houston, Texas where 250 East riders will go head to head in showing the rest of the field how strong of an impression they can make. In the past year there been quite a shake up amongst teams including Factory Connection Honda folding as well JGR Suzuki and many more riders switching teams. Some of those names include Christian Craig, Jett Lawrence, Jo Shimoda, and others who were on their own to find the next path in their two-wheeled career. Unlike most rounds of Supercross in recent memory, the racing will be primarily on the East Coast and middle America beginning with the East 250 riders and the premier class 450s. Already some riders have made a large impression on us during qualifying and practices. Christian Craig to name one, had the fastest lap time of the day (so far) even beating out the 450s as well as Jett Lawrence, Colt Nichols, Austin Forkner, and Rj Hampshire showing they came to not mess around. So who do you think will walk away with the red plate heading into Houston 2? Scroll down below to find out as we provide live coverage from the races.

250 MAIN EVENT RESULTS
Austin Forkner would take second place in the main event.
The 250 main event took off with Rj Hampshire taking the holeshot followed by Christian Craig and Jett Lawrence. Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammates Jo Shimoda and Austin Forkner battled it out behind the two veteran 250 riders. Christian Craig took the first place position and quickly gained a lead on Rj. Jo Shimoda fell behind leaving Jett Lawrence in third, Austin Forkner in fourth, and Colt Nichols in fifth. The racing was extremely close as there was battles for every position. Jett and Austin battled for third place while Mosiman and Shimoda battled for sixth. Within the first four minutes, Christian already put a two second lead on Rj but unfortunately for Rj, someone else had their eye on his spot in the race. Jett Lawrence made good speed on the Husqvarna rider and the 38 of Austin Forkner followed quickly behind. Ten Minutes remaining, Forkner made the pass on Jett Lawrence after the young Australian fumbled in a turn. Colt Nichols then made the pass on Jett and while these few battled it out, Christian Craig had set himself up with a four second lead. Austin Forkner then started making the move on Rj Hampshire while Colt Nichols made progress for third place. Austin eventually made the pass on Rj and set his eyes out on Christian Craig. The track was deeply rutted as the riders carved the ground and previous tactics were not available due to the track conditions. Even though Jett was passed by a handful of riders, he didn’t let this slow him down as he caught back up to Colt Nichols. With three minutes remaining, Michael Mosiman and Jo shimoda battled for sixth place and Mitchell Oldenburg sat in eight place but unfortunately for Mosiman, a lapper would cross in front of him resulting in Michael taking a tumble. The fight for third got even more heated as Lawrence and Nichols fought for Rj’s spot in the race. Rj went down in a corner leaving the door wide open for Colt Nichols and Jett Lawrence as they then fought for the third position. With one lap remaining, Jett Lawrence went down in a corner but held onto his position. Christian Craig would win the main event on his new Yamaha ride after 5 years from his last win.
After 5 years, Christian Craig would win the main event.
250 HEAT RACE 2 RESULTS
Austin Forkner would win the first heat race of the night
Heat 2 began with a holeshot from the 24 of Rj Hampshire followed by Star Yamaha rider Christian Craig. Michael Mosiman and Mitchell Oldenburg battled for the third place position. Christian Craig jumped ahead of the pack by the second lap having a sizeable lead over the rest of the 250 riders with more than 2 seconds but unfortunately made a mistake and tipped over in a turn. Luckily for Christian, he only lost 2 positions and quickly moved into the second position past the 42 of Michael Mosiman. Colt Nichols then sat in fourth followed by the Muc-Off rider of Mitchell Oldenburg. Christian already began to close the gap on the Husqvarna rider and showed considerable speed through the whoops. By taking alternative lines, Christian was able to breathe down the back of Rj but Rj refused to make mistakes. Christian wanted to show he meant business and made a very quick pass on Rj through a turn. Christian would hold onto the first place position as he got the checkers for heat 2 in Houston.
Rj Hampshire and Christian Craig neck and neck in the second heat race for the first place position.
Michael Mosiman put the GasGas up into third place during the second heat race.
250 HEAT RACE 1 RESULTS
Colt Nichols remaining focused for the heat races.
The number 30 of Jo Shimoda grabbed the holeshot and led the pack around the first several turns but it wasn’t for long till the rest of the pack caught up to the Kawasakki rider. The 250 rookie Max Vohland moved up to third within the second lap being followed closely by another 250 rookie Jett Lawrence. Max fell back as Austin Forkner pushed passed the rookie and moved up into the third position. The two riders raced right next to each other the rhythm sections and Austin Forkner made the pass as Jett stalled the bike falling a few seconds behind. Jo Shimoda still held the lead with 2 minutes left but Austin began to close the gap on his teammate. The two Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders went side by side through the whoops and the two were practically touching tires as they raced through the last lap. Unfortunately for Jo, Austin narrowly squeezed by through the whoops and made the pass. The two younger all stars, Jett Lawrence and Max Vohland, followed each other over the finish line for the third and fourth position in the first 250 Heat Race.
Jo had an incredible start but slowly fell behind but not far as he held onto the third place position.
The Supercross rookie Max Vohland would get fourth in his first-ever Supercross heat race.
250 LCQ RESULTS
Canadian Jess Pettis putting in some laps in American Supercross.
In the 250 LCQ, Simonson grabbed the holeshot but within a few turns, a large crash broke out between him and a few other riders resulting in KTM rider, Max Miller taking the lead. Dylan Woodcock would take the lead from Max Miller followed by Hand and Saultz. The lead was three-wide at one point but the riders leading the race were smart and gave each other plenty of room so they don’t take each other out and miss the night race. Osby made the pass on Max Miller for the fourth position and Max Miller began to lose some speed as Harriman made progress on the fourth place rider. Woodcock led the race with Hand following close but giving each other space. Harriman went for the aggressive pass but took himself out letting Max Miller get a fairly easy transfer into the main event.
