250 RACE RESULTS // 2023 ANAHEIM 1 SUPERCROSS

The 250 West division is set to kick off the AMA Supercross season at the 2023 Anaheim 1 Supercross and it’s Jett Lawrence, RJ Hampshire, Austin Forkner and Cameron McAdoo who are headlining the 250SX class. This year’s Anaheim 1 track was covered in water all week, but the Dirt Wurx crew did an amazing job keeping it covered with tarps. After uncovering the track and letting it bask in sunlight on Friday, the conditions have been surprisingly better than most people have expected.

250 MAIN EVENT RESULTS

Jett Lawrence wins Anaheim 1!

The 250 Main Event started off with a bang. Austin Forkner locked handlebars with another rider down the start straight and crashed big time. Sadly, Austin laid there for a few laps and was ultimately hauled off on the Alpinestars medic rig. Jett Lawrence quickly took the lead on the start with Cameron McAdoo second and RJ Hampshire third. Phil Nicoletti ran up front early with his teammate Enzo Lopes making passes through the pack. Mid way through the race, Jett was about 7-seconds ahead of McAdoo. Then, with less than two minutes on the clock, RJ Hampshire made the pass on McAdoo for second. Mitchell Oldenburg also made the pass on Max Vohland for fourth place at the same time. Enzo Lopes was very impressive, passing through the pack to get into sixth place.

250 HEAT RACE 2 RESULTS

Cameron McAdoo wins 250 Heat two.

The second 250 heat race started off with a brutal crash by Pierce Brown. The Troy Lee Designs GasGas rider went down hard right after the first turn and he walked off the track in pain. It looked like a back injury, but he was able to stand. Austin Forkner had issues on the first lap, but he made his way through the pack to finish third. Enzo Lopes, the Brazilian Club MX Yamaha rider was extremely impressive because he led the first half of the race. Then, when Cameron McAdoo passed him, Enzo was able to stay right with McAdoo all the way to the finish.

Hunter Schlosser and Australian rider Wilson Todd collided in the whoop section in the middle of the start straight and went down. Hunter continued the race but Todd was hauled off on the Alpinestars mule.

Austin Forkner went down on the first lap and came from the back. 

The 250 Heat 2 gate is set to drop at 7:23 pm. The race is 6 Minutes/Plus 1 lap with 20 riders, the top 1 – 9 riders advance to the Main Event.

250 HEAT RACE 1 RESULTS

RJ Hampshire wins the first race of 2023, the 250 Heat race.

RJ Hampshire grabbed the holeshot with Mitchell Oldenburg second, Max Vohland third and Jett Lawrence fourth on the opening lap. Then, Mitchell decided to go inside after the mechanics area while Vohland went outside carrying more momentum into the rhythm section, making the pass for second. Shortly after, Lawrence passed Oldenburg and then Levi Kitchen got by too. Next, Jett made the move on Vohland to put him into second place. Midway through the race, Jett was second and closing up on Hampshire by 1-second a lap.

Although the track is much smoother than it was for qualifying, some of the sections are getting soft and rutty, specifically the corner after the mechanic’s area. In the end, Hampshire pulled away from Lawrence who seemed to be settling in for a second place finish.

250 LCQ RESULTS

Mitchell Harrison made some mistakes and missed out on qualifying through the LCQ. His teammate, Jerry Robin won the LCQ.

Ty Masterpool was leading the 250 LCQ, but he went down twice, causing him to finish fifth and miss the transfer by one spot.
