250 WEST VIDEO: SEE CAMERON McADOO DO IT IN THE DAYTONA 250 WEST CLASS
At the first round of the 250 West Championship in Orlando, two bad incidents occurred. First, Star Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin decided not to jump the double out of the first turn after the start, that set off a chain reaction that resulted in Stilez Robertson landing on top of Jeremy Martin. Second, Cameron McAdoo, through no fault of his own, clipped an Alpinestars medic who walked out to a hot track without looking (thinking that all the riders had seen the red restart flag from the Robertson/Martin crash). The collision with the medic forced McAddo, who was chasing eventual Orlando winner Justin Cooper, to run over the already downed Alex Martin (from a separate crash). After the race, McAdoo apologized profusely and claimed responsibility, but the blame was on the AMA who failed to show the red flag to the leaders of the race, waving it only at the finish line, which Cooper and McAdoo had already passed. It was an unfortunate set of circumstances in a year with lots of unfortunate AMA snafus.
Orlando was not a good day for either Robertson or McAdoo, but Daytona was. Robertson,a first year Pro, led the majority of the race, until Cameron McAdoo got past him for the win. At the race’s end both riders score big firsts in their respective careers. McAdoo won his first-ever AMA 250 Supercross and Stilez Robertson got his first-ever AMA 250 Supercross podium. Thankfully, both can put the incidents in Orlando in their rear view mirrors.
