450 RACE RESULTS | FOX RACEWAY NATIONAL MOTOCROSS (UPDATED)

450 RACE RESULTS | FOX RACEWAY NATIONAL MOTOCROSS

The final round of the 2020 AMA Pro National Motocross Championship series was held at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. This year of racing has been quite interesting with Covid-19 hitting the world by storm. Instead of the regular 12 race series, MX Sports had to cut the series down to 9 rounds. With each state having different regulations for the pandemic it was a hard road to navigate where the series could travel to. Everyone thought Califonia was off the list as it is one of the more strict states. What allowed this series come to Califnoaia was that Fox Raceway was inhabited on Indian reservation land. Meaning the land doesn’t follow the same guidelines as the rest of California.

The 450 class has been an exciting one in 2020. The multi National champion, Eli Tomac was expected to dominate like he has many times before. Is he in a hangover phase after he won his first 450 Supercross title or was it having his first child the made him settle down in the National series? Whatever it is, Tomac has been off the pace and his teammate Adam Cianciarulo is now battling the veteran factory Husqvarna rider, Zach Osborne for the title. With a 24 point lead coming into the last round, it is a far reach for Adam to gain control of the title, but again, anything can happen.

450 OVERALL RESULTS

Chase Sexton 2020 Fox Raceway National-168Chase Sexton got his first ever 450 National motocross win.

Adam Ciancairulo got another holeshot on the day with the two factory Honda riders of Chase Sexton and Christain Craig behind him with Zach Osborne fifth and Tomac ninth.  Craig moved up and started to put pressure on Cianciarulo for the lead. He was under one second behind him looking for an opportunity to pass Adam. When Tomac moved up on Osborne, he did not put up a fight letting him by. Sexton made a fast pass on Craig for second trailing Cianciarulo by less than a second. Sexton made a run for the lead putting serious pressure on Cianciarulo. Tomac caught up to Musquin with eight-minutes and two laps left in the race. Although if he got passed Musquin for fourth, it would be a long shot to make up the 18 seconds to catch Craig for third. Osborne had a good buffer in sixth place with Max Anstie five seconds behind him sitting in a comfortable spot to win the championship. Adam Cianciarulo went down after hitting a kicker on the step up and almost went over the bars. He got going again in third place putting Sexton in line for winning the 450 overall. With three laps to go Tomac got passed Musquin for fourth. Chase Sexton took the overall win with his teammate Christain Craig second and Adam Cianciarulo third in the second moto. The story of the day was Zach Osborne who became the oldest rider to ever win a National 450 Championship.
