ÿAs editors, we spend a good part of each month interviewing various riders and industry insiders for the newest issue. Although we enjoy asking pressing questions and listening to unique responses, sometimes we tire of coming up with questions. So, when the opportunity presented itself whereas we could let someone else interview a rider, we thought it to be a good idea. Moto XXX team manager Allan Browne was recently helping us with a photo shoot, but had a fair amount of down time in between shots. It just so happened that one of his riders, Josh Summey, was also hanging out. Without warning, we threw a tape recorder at Allan and told him to grill Josh. Browne was understandably nervous and Summey probably didn’t know what to think, so the interview came out a little short. Never the less, here’s a unique interview with Josh Summey, conducted by his own team manager.

Josh, say your name and spell it?

Josh Summey. S-u-m-m-e-y.

Why did you pick motorcycles?

That’s what my dad used to do, so he kind of got me into it.

How many motorcycles do you own?

I own two, no wait, three.

Who do you ride with?

I like to ride with my dad, and lately Austin Stroupe and Chris Osborne.

Who was your idol growing up?

I don’t have anyone that comes to mind, really.

How long have you been working on your tattoos?

I’ve been working on them since I was 17, and I’m 22 right now.

What do the tattoos mean to you?

I don’t know what they mean (laughter).

So you are on Moto XXX and you have tattoos. Are you trying to follow in the footsteps of Brian Deegan?

No, I don’t think so.

How do you feel about racing on a team with a girl?

I’m not really sure because I haven’t raced with her yet. I guess we’ll see tomorrow at the Prequel.

What do you plan on doing after racing?

I might do a year or two in GNCC racing. I’ve talked with Randy Hawkins about doing some off-road racing later on down the road. Recently I just bought a Harley motorcycle so I’m enjoying that.
