AMA NATIONAL: ROCZEN WINS, BUT GAINS NOTHING

SUBSCRIBEINTERNAL

Anderson-HighPointKen Roczen (1) took the overall win with a 2-1 over Ryan Dungey’s 1-2, but Jason Anderson (21) had the ride of the day as he fought his way to his second straight 450 podium. Wil Hahn (48) has his best outing of the season with a 9th. Cole Seely (14) was 8th.

Ken Roczen earned his first overall victory of the season in the 450 class by splitting moto wins and seconds with Ryan Dungey. Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson stood on the third step of the podium. Although Roczen won at Mt. Morris, he didn’t gain any points on Ryan Dungey and still trails the KTM rider by  37 points.

Dungey-HighPointThere is little between Dungey and Roczen in terms of speed. It just seems to matter who gets the best start. The real battle is for third.

Meanwhile in the 250 class, KTM’s Marvin Musquin led all but one lap during the day to take second overall win of the season with a 1-1 moto sweep. Bad starts plagued 250 points leader Jeremy Martin, who finished third behind Muquin and Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne. The points lead swapped from Martin to Musquin for the third time this season. There is no race next weekend, but they return to action on June 27 at Budds Creek, Maryland.

Musquin-HighPointMarvin Musquin leads Zach Osborne in the second 250 moto. Osborne stuck with the Frenchman for half the moto and held on for second overall.

Osborne-HighPointZach Osborne’s moto score for 2015 have been 20-5-13-33-2-3-9-9-5-2. Zach is currently 6th in 250 points. He is 90 points behind Musquin, but only 9 points out of the top five.

111618_Pourcel-HighPointMX2015Cudby-011_4928Christophe Pourcel is on his way back after along layoff. He has averaged about an 8th place finish in the first eight motos of the year, not counting his DNF at Muddy Creek. However, at Mt. Morris, he ran up front and fought for his positions. Pourcel was fourth with a 3-5 score.

Dungey-HighPoint28Justin Barcia (51) had speed on Saturday. He was able to capitalize on great starts, but made a few mistakes that cost him places, but he never gave up. Even with his bad first moto at Hangtown, Justin is 4th in 450 points and the 4th fastest guy now that Tomac is gone.
