In the Playbike/entry-level/pit bike category, Consumers have seen 50cc, 90cc 100cc, 110cc, 125cc, 150cc and 230cc play bikes come on the scene in the last few years?now the KLX140.  It often seems as though every manufacturers is trying to find its own niche instead of competing against the other brands. Of course that isn’t true–but what is true is that the play bike market has a myriad of demands. Among the list of needs is seat height, transmission type, power output, weight and ease of use.  Therefore, a wide range of different size play bikes makes sense. Kawasaki has done more than choose an unique displacement to create a special niche for the  KL140, they have incorporated many unique features in hopes of attaining the ultimate play bike.

Standout features of the KLX include performance parts such as front and rear disc brakes, aluminum wheels and rubber-mounted handlebars.  Kawasaki has strived to make many components such as the air cleaner, footpegs and styling closely resemble those on a KX race model than what would be expected on an entry-level play bike.

At the press intro, the 2008 KLX140 was more fun than a barrel of monkeys.  Look for our KLX 140L test in an upcoming issue to get the full skinny.
