Team USA had a rough day at the 2018 Motocross des Nations during Saturday qualifying at the Red Bud track in Michigan. Eli Tomac had a DNF, Aaron Plessinger was leading until he had a crashed off the triple step up putting him back to 11th, but Justin Barcia came through for the team and finished second in the Open race. A DNF, 11th and 2nd qualified team USA 9th heading into race day.
