2019 HIGH POINT NATIONAL PRE-RACE REPORT

2019 HIGH POINT AMA PRO MOTOCROSS NATIONAL PRE-RACE REPORT

After a weekend off, the 2019 AMA Nationals are officially headed East for round four of the series at the High Point National track in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. To prepare ourselves for the upcoming race, we decided to take a look back at the 2018 High Point National and remember the awesome battle between Marvin Musquin and Eli Tomac in the final three laps of the second 450 Moto. The High Point track is known for it’s steep hills and long tacky ruts. Because the soil at the Pennsylvania track is harder and has a lot of traction, it can be less forgiving and more technical and challenging for the riders. The smoother and more precise riders usually excel in these conditions, while riders who ride on the ragged edge and as the kids would say “send it,” usually do better in the softer, loamy soil conditions.

After the first three rounds of the season, both the 250 and 450 championship point standings are close. Adam Cianciarulo 2019 Fox National pala motocross raceway-9693Adam Cianciarulo leads the 250 championship after winning the overall at the first three rounds.

250 CHAMPIONSHIP POINT STANDINGS

In the 250 class, Adam Cianciarulo has emerged as the dominant one, but it hasn’t come easy for him. He has battled back and forth with Justin Cooper at each round. At the first three rounds, Justin has won every first Moto and Adam has won ever second Moto. Will they break the streak this weekend? Only time will tell. But we do know that Justin Cooper was very frustrated after the Thunder Valley National. The main irritation for the Yamaha rider was Adam Cianciarulo’s off-track excursion that Justin thought he should’ve been penalized for. But Justin was also upset with himself for crashing all on his own while leading the second Moto. Currently Adam leads by six points over Justin Cooper who will be looking to redeem himself this Saturday at High Point.

Jordon Smith 2019 Minneapolis SupercrossJordon Smith announced via Instagram that he will not be racing this weekend: “I want to give everyone a quick update. As most of you know I have been really struggling with my wrist injury from supercross and it has been getting worse throughout motocross so far. After Colorado I took a week and a half off and just did physical therapy on my wrist every day. I thought it was feeling pretty good but when I tried to get on the bike and ride yesterday I just couldn’t do it. After about 15 laps my wrist hurt too bad to ride anymore. I have elected to get surgery to fix the problem. I will keep everyone updated on how surgery goes and when I plan to return to racing! I want to give a big thanks to @tld_raceteam for sticking behind me! We will be back soon!”
