The 2019 Southwick National is here and the AMA National riders are about to experience their second weekend in a row of racing in the sand. Marvin Musquin is coming into round six with an extra boost of confidence after winning at the Florida National over Eli Tomac and Zach Osborne who were second and third. Marvin’s 1-3 moto scores earned him his first win since Unadilla in 2018. In addition to winning at Unadilla, Marvin also won at Southwick and Redbud in 2018 which just so happen to be the next two rounds. Can the Frenchman do it again? Ken Roczen went 2-10 at the Florida National to finish 6th overall. But because Eli Tomac also had inconsistent Moto scores with a 7-1, Ken only lost 6 points to Eli in the Championship.

In the 250 class, it was Justin Cooper who managed to grab his first professional win at the hot, humid and rough Florida National. He wasn’t the fastest in each Moto, but he was the best rider, consequently, he won the overall. His 2-2 Moto scores were consistent enough for him to grab the win. Chase Sexton won the first Moto, but he suffered from heat exhaustion and he wasn’t able to complete the second Moto. Dylan Ferrandis won the second Moto, but his 4th place result in Moto 1 wasn’t good enough to dethrone his teammate. The current points leader, Adam Cianciarulo wasn’t able to keep his win streak going on the sandy WW Ranch track, but he still salvaged a podium position with 5-3 Moto scores. Justin Cooper gained 8 points in one day on Cianciarulo and now the gap is 18 points between the two. Dylan Ferrandis is third in the points chase, 35 points behind Adam

Felt great first Moto and got my first outdoor Moto win which was awesome! That was followed by throwing up 4 times at the podium, blurry vision, and knees buckling when I tried to walk, just felt way over heated. I tried to make an attempt to race Moto 2 but after the sight lap I was over heating super fast and my vision wasn’t great. I’m embarrassed on not being able to race and I apologize to all my fans and especially my team and sponsors! I feel much better already and I’m ready to put in a good week to come out swinging at The Wick!”

Michael Mosiman 2019 Florida NationalUnfortunately Michael Mosiman will miss Southwick after crashing during a routine practice day at the Baker’s Factory.

After finishing on the podium at Thunder Valley and placing fourth overall at the Florida National, Michael Mosiman has been making progress in the 250 class. Unfortunately the Rockstar Husqvarna rider will miss the Southwick National this weekend to recover after suffering from a crash this week in practice. Michael expects to be back racing at Red Bud for round seven next weekend.
