2020 DAYTONA SUPERCROSS PRE-RACE REPORT: ROUND TEN OF THE 2020 MONSTER ENERGY SUPERCROSS SERIES IN DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA
The 2020 Daytona Supercross is set to go this Saturday, March 7th, at the famous Daytona International Speedway for it’s 50th year in a row. Technically, round ten of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross season in Daytona Beach, Florida, is considered the 47th year in-a-row because the 1971-1973 seasons which included motocross events, weren’t awarding Championship points. Fast forward to 2020, the Daytona SX is one of the most exciting rounds of the series and this time we have a tie in the 450SX point standings with Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen both holding the red plate. Because he has never placed outside of the top five at Daytona, Eli Tomac is regarded as the favorite at this round. This year, Ken Roczen is coming in hot after his win at Atlanta and he’s determined to show the world that he’s capable of beating Eli Tomac on the outdoor-style Supercross track.

ELI TOMAC’S DAYTONA STATISTICS
Eli Tomac turned Pro at Hangtown in 2010 and spent his 250 class years racing on the West Coast only. It wasn’t until Eli did a select few 450 rounds in 2013 for the Geico Honda team that he got to race at Daytona. While racing a 250 on the West Coast, Eli jumped up to the 450 to race Atlanta, St. Louis, Daytona and Indianapolis. And you guessed it, his best finish in his 450SX debut was at Daytona when he placed fourth in the 450 Main Event. Eli then missed the Daytona Supercross due to injury in 2014. He returned in 2015 and finished second behind Ryan Dungey. Then he beat Ryan Dungey and won the race in 2016 and then won it again in 2017 ahead of his now training partner, Jeremy Martin. In 2018, Eli came from behind to finish second behind Justin Brayton and in 2019 Eli again, won the 450SX Main Event. That puts Eli at three wins out of the six times he’s raced there, and he’s never finished outside of the top five. Obviously, Eli is the favorite to win on Saturday, but you never know in Supercross.
