2020 GLENDALE SUPERCROSS | 450 OVERALL RESULTS (UPDATED)

2020 GLENDALE SUPERCROSS 450 MAIN EVENT OVERALL RESULTS

In the 450 class, it was Ken Roczen who came into the forth round of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross series with the points lead and a narrow three point margin. The first round 450 SX winner of Justin Barcia lost the red plate due to his subpar performance at the third round at Anaheim 2 (A2). The track last weekend was super technical for the riders. Although for the Factory Kawasaki rider of Eli Tomac it looked as if he was riding on rails. Eli came from behind on the Anaheim track and got to the front in no time. No rider could match his pace. This is the usual Eli Tomac. Blazingly fast one round then loses his mojo the next. It is more than obvious and his competition knows it is his weak spot. Guys like Cooper Webb will let Eli take a few wins home because Eli’s M.O. is inconsistency.

Remember, Glendale is the first of three Triple Crown Event for the 2020- Supercross season. The other two Triple Crown races will be held in Arlington, Texas, on February 22nd, and at the penultimate round in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 25th. It’s always interesting to see how the riders perform in the shorter three-race format. For a full breakdown on how it works, read below:

Triple Crown format breakdown:
The top 18 from the overall fastest qualifying times during the day will advance straight to the main event. There will then be an LCQ that add four more riders for a total of 22 racers in the main event. During the night show, there won’t be any heat races or LCQ’s but each class will have three main events. The 250SX class will compete in three 10-minute main events, while the 450SX class will compete in three 12-minute main events. An Olympic-style scoring method will be used to determine an overall winner in each class from all three main events where the lowest combined score at the end will be awarded the overall win.

450 MAIN EVENT 2 RESULTS

Ken Roczen wins two in a row in Glendale.

Eli Tomac was out front off the start, although Adam Cianciarulo hit Justin Bogle putting him on the ground hard with Zach Osborne as well. The race was red flagged due to the crash as Bogle was knocked out cold. He did however get up which was a good sign. On the second 450 start, Ken Roczen got off to the early lead with Cooper Webb in second, Adam Cianciarulo third and Eli Tomac forth. Cianciarulo moved into second by passing Webb on the third lap. Then on the next lap, Adam slide out with Tomac getting into second and Webb third. Adam fell back to ninth. Then on the six lap Jason Anderson got around Webb for third. It seemed as Webb couldn’t keep the pass of the lead pack as Blake Baggett moved up on Webb quick. On lap nine Baggett moved into forth passing Webb with Cianciarulo right behind him. On the white flag lap, Roczen had a comfy six second lead over Tomac and he took the win. Tomac was second, Anderson third, Baggett forth with Webb hanging on to fifth over Cianciarulo.

450 MAIN EVENT 1 RESULTS

Ken Roczen wins the first 450 main event in Glendale.

It was Zach Osborne with the early lead in the first 450 Supercross main event in Glendale. Eli Tomac was hot on his tail in second with his teammate Adam Cianciarulo in tow. By the second lap, Zach crashed and went from first to last with Ken Roczen leading the charge. Roczen was on fire as he started to pull away from the Kawasaki riders. On the forth lap, the champ, Cooper Webb was coming from behind as he sat 11th. In the later laps the lap times started to increase as Tomac crept up on Roczen getting within a half second of him. Malcolm Stewart was putting in a good ride in forth with Anderson fifth and Barcia sixth. Webb was having a hard timing working through the pack as he only got to 8th on the 11th lap. On the white flag lap, Roczen pulled out over a one second gap  over Tomac with Cianciarulo three seconds behind. Roczen won, Tomac second and Cianciarulo third.
