2020 OAKLAND SUPERCROSS PRE-RACE REPORT | ROUND #5 OF THE 2020 MONSTER ENERGY SUPERCROSS SEASON
The 2020 Oakland Supercross is coming up on Saturday, February 1st inside the RingCentral Coliseum in Oakland, California. Before it gets here, we like to give our readers a heads up on what you should know going into it. As it has been for the last few years, the racing program in Oakland will start and end earlier than usual. It’s always weird to start the “night show” when it’s still light out, but it’s actually pretty nice when you get to bed at a decent hour afterwards. MXA will be on hand in Oakland to bring you all the race coverage and news from round five. We’ll be posting photos and videos from press day, the best in the pits gallery as well as qualifying and race results which will be updated throughout the day.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: OAKLAND SUPERCROSS EARLIER START
Ken Roczen is headed into Oakland with the red plate and a full head of steam after winning in Glendale. Just like last year and the year before, the Oakland Supercross will start earlier than a standard race day format. Instead of the racing beginning at 7:00p.m., the night show will begin at 5:30 with the first 250 Heat race one gate dropping at 5:35p.m.. The weather is often a factor in Oakland. Usually rain in Northern California, leading up to the Oakland Supercross makes for a rutted and challenging track. And even when it’s dry, the Oakland soil tends to rut up more than most Supercross tracks. Coming from a hard pack and slick Glendale track, the riders will be in for something completely different this Saturday. Currently the weather forecast good clear in Oakland. The temperatures show they’ll be ranging in between 50 and 61 degrees on Saturday.
