2020 SALT LAKE CITY SUPERCROSS ROUND 13 | 250 EAST OVERALL QUALIFYING RESULTS
Round 13 of Supercross is in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the weather has made things even more interesting for Supercross fans to enjoy from home. The weather is cold and wet as rain has fallen and turned the Salt Lake City Supercross track into a mudder. With the significant amount of rain the day before the race and on the morning of, Supercross has decided to eliminate the free practice and their first qualifying session. Now, the riders were only able to ride the track one time to score their qualifying time and gate pick for the heat races tonight. The got one sight lap where they rolled the track and then the 10-minute qualifying session started.

Chase Sexton and Shane McElrath jumped out early to get ahead of the rest of the pack and try to log in their fast lap times early in the practice. With the limited amount of riders in Salt Lake City nobody has to worry about qualifying for the night show, but they do want to score a fast lap to intimidate their competitors and to score a good gate pick for their heat race. Chase Sexton logged the best time at the beginning of the practice while Shane McElrath took it easy on the first lap and was 15th. Chase also made a small mistake while rolling over a jump and went down, he was ok, but he pulled into the mechanics area to get his handlebars straightened out. The track continued to get worse and worse with every lap, but Garrett Marchbanks was able to log a fast lap and get into second and Shane McElrath was up to third with just over 3-minutes to go. Later in the practice Shane McElrath went to the top of the board, one tenth of a second faster than Chase Sexton. Finally, on the last lap Shane McElrath went down and he was ok, meanwhile, Chase Sexton logged a faster time to get back in front of McElrath in qualifying.
